...and then he saw the picture of the aquamarine lycra clad willy and said 'who is the poster who posts up pictures of strangers willies?' .....he may look in more often now as he wonders what we get up to on here.:rotfl:
I posted nothing of the sort; rather, a picture of a man clad for cycling. Dunno what you saw in the photo..............much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
OMG... that song is about killing his partner yes? Please don't say it is sung in a cute ditty style? 0-0
One more love song. I generally like to include at least one or two love songs in the evening's program, partly perhaps to convince people that even at the Harvard University Graduate School, that hotbed of celibacy that I used to call home, we did have our moments. This one is a tender ballad entitled simply I Hold Your Hand In Mine....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Probably, so long as you didn't mind losing them in a really violent way.
I prepped in a different way, because my doctor advised me to and I eat weirdly anyway. So prepping was actually pretty easy for me, and dare I say it, even. A little dissappintingly anticlimactic.0 -

Most of his stuff is that kind of cynical humour. Titles include:
Poisoning pigeons in the park
The masochism tango
We'll all go together when we go (about nuclear annihilation)
But they're, well, meant to be like that. They're mostly digs at other aspects of culture that haven't thought through the implications of stuff people accept but which isn't really very healthy. So he takes things to extremes to make a point. The most obvious of these is "She's my girl". When introducing it, he explains:And now to the love song... I'm sure you're familiar with love songs on the order of He's just my Bill, ... my man, ... my Joe, ... my Max, and so on, where the girl who sings them tells you that, although the man she loves is antisocial, alcoholic, physically repulsive, or just plain unsanitary, that, nevertheless, she is his because he is hers, and like that. But, as far as I know, there has never been a popular song from the analogous male point of view, that is to say, of a man who finds himself in love with, or, in this case, married to, a girl, who has nothing whatsoever to recommend her. I have attempted to fill this need. The song is called She's My Girl.

I used to have to teach a space travel / cosmology /science fiction unit of a course and this was useful (couldn't show all of it for obvious reasons).
You could get the students to calculate how fast we're orbiting the sun and how fast that's orbiting the galactic core, and how fast the earth's rotating. One unusual conclusion was that we're travelling eastwards about 500 mph at our latitude but our eastwards journey speeds up by 1 mph every 6 miles south we travel (and the reverse when we travel north).
I'd get them to connect it with the fact all rockets are launched eastwards and as close to the equator as possible to exploit centrifugal (maybe I mean centripetal) force.
(I have also had to teach a few basic bits of science where I find vids like this useful)
As regards music I'd ask what the NPs make of this recent find: night all! There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Oh no. The hamster has escaped.
The previous hamster always used to go to the same place when she escaped, but this one is nowhere to be found so far. DD is very sad and anxious.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? That is the sort of thing that makes getting out of the house on time in the morning so difficult....
I have to say NDGs photo is probably less likely to make me read the thread than more, but on a serious note, it shows 3 identifiable people and will probably go viral, is it fair for people to have their image posted everywhere?I think....0 -
Am i the only one who didn't know that 'Birdseye' brand came from Clarence Birdseye rather than just being a made up brand name?

I used to teach a student with an unusual accent and she was from Fray Bentos. I didn't realise it was a real place. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0
