KSW? That was one of the reasons I went to Worcester with my American friends, to show them the school that their family attended.... in the 1600s. I found it a charming little town but with horrid rush hour traffic, not untypical in a city that was not built for cars.

The rels did rather well out of their KSW education. In addition to the one who became a Burgess in America, one became mayor of Worcester, another one of the most successful merchants in London, and a third was last heard of running for Cardinal. I hear their results are still good, 400 years later.

Yes, we're applying there. Did they let you look around?

What fascinating stuff to research! There must be more than just the average amount of information out there about those ancestors.

Probably. I know for a fact you're not annoying which almost all of the candidates were.

Are you any good with Excel?

I know you lot won't get it:p,but consider it cost around £3.5 k when it was new in the mid to late 70s and the last auction I went to, a very nice one sold at £53k.

I want someone to do Excel, pay invoices and work with me on projects for members of senior management who will ask them where the projects are.

If they can't answer the question, "What would you do for a holiday?" then I have my doubts as to how they will answer a question like, "How is my business case for our $1.5 billion FX facility coming on?" (a question that would need answering urgently and correctly if I was to call in sick at any point this month).

In my rather brusque manner I say that someone who gets the job needs to be house trained already.

The job isn't an amazing one but the next promotion is a pretty good one. Thus we're looking for someone pretty good.

Gen, you would not have taken me, because I would have told you what a daft question it is.

Leaving aside the trivial point that there is a limited amount of money in circulation in the world, so it is impossible to have an unlimited amount of money, your question implies unlimited selfishness on the part of the spender of all this money.

The obvious thing to do is to give it away to other people whose marginal benefit from the money is greater than my own. So, with the vast funds, kindly donated by yourself, I would have my work cut out to distribute the money sensibly in just 3 weeks. I would then return from holiday absolutely ravaged from all the hard work involved, and I would need to take another week off to recover.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I agree. You need to dress for court, which is essentially the same as you would wear for a job interview. (Obviously, it depends on the job!)

So, smart clothes, to show respect for both the court and the deceased. On the other hand, it is not a fashion parade. At the same time, if it is going to last a while, you need to be reasonably comfortable.

My top tip is to take a bottle of water with you.

My topper tip, when going to court, is to take a book / newspaper / magazine with you. There's more waiting about doing sod all than you'd think possible.

Here's something for the Nice People to ponder.

If you had 3 weeks off work and an unlimited amount of money, what would you do? Time is limited, money is not.

The answers were very boring. So I throw the question open to you mob. What would you do?

I'll let you know my answer tomorrow (my time).

If it's a "choose your posh holiday" time, that'd be easy. Assuming I wasn't pregnant, I'd go to Bhutan. I've read a bit about it, and it's an absolutely fascinating place. Very few tourists are allowed in, and there's a hefty per diem charge, so I've not been able to afford to go before. And with the large quantities of cash, I could afford to go and buy any kit I needed, too.

Second choice - exploring uninhabited Scottish islands by private yacht in summer.

Otherwise, if I could spend money without being on holiday, I'd go to the area boardering Syria, and build decent facilities in all those godforesaken refugee camps, lay sanitation, and buy in large quantities of non-perishable food.

My top tip from spending weeks in tribunal hearings is arrive very early on the first day and baggsie the desk at the back left where the pillar in the middle of the room blocks the judge's line of sight to you.

If I absolutely had to spend the money on going on holiday, I think I'd spend it on going on those very expensive almost-in-space rocket trips. Every day for 3 weeks. Untried technology, so I am not at all sure that I would survive the 21 days.

That was my first thought, and probably what I would have blurted out in an interview. Rather boring, though.
