Here's something for the Nice People to ponder.

I've been interviewing some people and used the boring HR list of questions but chucked in a couple of my own. Most of them were technical questions (e.g. what Excel function would you use to.....) but I put one in to see what people were like:

If you had 3 weeks off work and an unlimited amount of money, what would you do? Time is limited, money is not.

The answers were very boring. So I throw the question open to you mob. What would you do?

I'll let you know my answer tomorrow (my time).

I'd probably go on the most expensive safari I could possibly find for a week, then try to climb a mountain like Kilimanjaro or something, and then go to the most expensive island in the Maldives for a week of R&R. I use most expensive as a proxy for best - when you hand over the cash and get me the three weeks off I will finesse the planning process somewhat.

Either that or I'd go to a casino and keep putting the maximum bet on every number on the roulette table solidly for three weeks - I get to keep the winnings right?

One candidate said, "I'd buy a house". She went to the top of the too boring to spend 40+ hours a week with pile.

Mine will probably be seen as boring....

Take my family (as in near family, not just the boys) to Disneyland Paris (I prefer Paris as it is not as commercialised as Orlando).

Take my family out for a posh meal.

Purchase the greats (books) and read as much as possible without worrying about the expense.

Go back to the special needs playgroup and the Mencap drop in the boys used to attend when they were small and offer to buy any equipment/support they needed to help other parents and their children (they quite literally saved my life, the days were so hard back then and they kept me halfway sane and prevented me from doing something eek) - the bit in brackets would probably not be the best answer in a job interview though!

Arrange for my friend and her family to have a break away including carers as her son, who already has severe disabilities, has just been given a horrendous diagnosis which will limit his life. She copes alone and does brilliantly but you can see it wears her down and she and her children need some joy and happy memories in their lives before it is too late.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Not for me. There's some great stuff in there. Being a cynic I might put you in the can fake sincerity pile. That pile generally gets a second interview.

Seriously though, none of our candidates said a single word about even taking a partner or family member away with them let alone doing charitable works.

Weird.....that would be my first thought! Mind you, family has always come first with me.

The charitable works (although I see it more as paying back something I have received), is because they were my lifeline back when the boys were younger, including the friend who is now having a tough time...she was at the special needs playgroup at the same time and we would have lots of talks outside in parent time.

Are you looking for the 'NPT answer' or the 'job interview' answer, they would most definitely be different....
    I think....

Something to do with a first class plane travel and as many Michelin starred restaurants in sunny places as one can fit into three weeks. And David Beckham to carry my handbag.

It's hard to know what to answer because there aren't any rules. I'd be desperate to ask a question, but then I'd worry about asking a question in case I looked stupid for asking a question about a question that was totally hypothetical in the first place.
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

    Either really. Or both.

I thought you might have fun with it while I sleep.

    Goodnight all!
