Don't worry about it though, PN. People are passionate about different things. If somebody wants to make space for a particular purpose, they will. She is passionate about food and cooking for people, not just herself.
Fwiw, when it comes to cooking, I am motivated by cooking for others. During the day, I tend not to feed myself very well because there is no one to share with. Sometimes I will do fresh fish as no one else is all that keen. If I were by myself all the time, I'd still have to treat myself sometimes to properly cooking and cheat with pre-prepped veg, but I'd probably eat M&S meals and take away curry.
Cooking is a labour of love and dinner is an event for me. I try to insist that we all eat together even if that means waiting for the last one to come home. A small kitchen wouldn't stop me. I've got a three burner hob because it looks nice. It's perfecty manageable as I have a big pot with steaming levels - in fact I only use two rings now. Home food tastes better all in one pot, imo.
I have five rings and a sort of extra bit. Id like more. It's not the one pot meals, (and we do our veg in a steamer too) its the multi courses, or cooking supper while also trying to cook :A.

I have never used more than two rings on a cooker - too scared it'll catch fire if I've not used one recently, or if I try to put them all on together. Same with having the oven on and hobs - petrified.
I often have toast as there's no point spending a long time cooking something, that's just for me and will generate a load of washing up. Toast will do.0 -
Having made it to church this morning and felt rather dizzy / spaced out when getting home (adrenaline levels not great), I suddenly found more energy and did lots of cooking today: courgette & dolcelatte soup, roast courgettes (spot the allotment theme), apple chutney and veg (inc courgette) / chicken korma.
Now I wish I had room for another freezer ... I may have been rather over-ambitious about the tardis-like capacity of my current freezer!!
Glad to hear all is improving, Generali.0 -
Hi All. Sorry I've been away for a bit. I've had some thinking to do which has come to a conclusion. I'll let you in on the results in a while.
Sorry, I'm too lazy to catch up. Congrats to NDG. I feel bad for anyone who's had bad stuff happen and I celebrate with those who have had good stuff happen.
Hi GenI was worried that the meet up put you off us
Sorry to read about mini gens needle in foot....sounds ouchy.
Can't wait to know what the conclusions are.
I had no idea Mrs G's lungs were bad so must have been a posting I missed.0 -
Yup, she finally seems to have gotten over it. The all clear for lung damage came though a while back but it's taken a further few weeks for her to stop being constantly exhausted.
I feel sorry for my daughter actually. Her brother has had this huge fuss made of him and she's been left out. I made sure I took her out this afternoon, just me and her. We went to the Club and she got to have a go in the fancy paid-for kids play area, eat ice cream and mess about with the pool table.
Only child treatment! NDG's Isaac gets it all the time, but for people with more than one child, OCT is the way to go.
Just back (a few mins ago, literally!) from holiday, and the big news is that we entered Jerusalem through the Damascus Gate and exited through the Dung Gate.
The wedding we went for: the bride circled her husband-to-be seven times, absolutely beaming up at him. He beamed back and burst into tears! So, soppy as I am, I think that things are looking good. She's a fabulous girl, whom I have known since she was tiny, and he seems to be a rather special young man, with great integrity.
I have no idea what's been going on, except that NDG has had some good news, but what? So congrats to her, and congrats to anyone else that needs it/commiserations likewise. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

NDG's Isaac won't be getting OCT all that much longer.
Wedding sounds lovely. I hope they have as happy a marriage as you and Mrs GDB seem to have.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Ha ha, no way! I had a great evening.
I've had some stuff happen which has made me want to reevaluate things. Nothing more.0 -
I've been busy with appointments and kids stuff..oh and going to the opticians. I need new glasses with special overlays to try to combat my headaches (finally been formally diagnosed with Irlens) and different kind of lenses to combat not being able to see to thread a needle anymore!
Deep joy, I am getting old.
Also sorting out an Ipad for my parents, they loved the Facetime they did so much with James on youngest's Ipad that dad insisted he got one for mum's birthday...the joy on their faces on Saturday when they Facetimed James on their very own Ipad was so special, dad had a beaming smile for the rest of the day. I know it is a lot of money but you certainly can't put a price on being able to see your grandson when he is so far away at the touch of a button.
Talking of James, he has managed to get himself a girlfriend whilst at Uni. Weirdly, she orginally comes from the town we are connected to but he had never met her before because she moved abroad with her family several years ago. The only problem now is he wants to bring her home with him this weekend (he is coming back for a birthday bash), so I am all in a tizz about how youngest will cope as he doesn't like people in the house..he says he will be alright but it is always different when it actually comes to it.
Right school run time....We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Here's hoping for the best for the weekend. Who knows? Maybe youngest will eventually get so used to James bringing a girlfriend to the house that he'll be able to cope with lovverrrr being in the house sometimes too.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? James is as cool as a cucumber. A lot of young men might ( sadly) feel worried what a gf would think about his brothers' difficulties. It says a lot for him, his love for his family, his brothers and so much about you and how he feels about you, that he's bringing this girl home.
Fast worker too, huh!?0
