I am encouraging said friend to go round, but she won't:(. No stamina! I would love to know what the occupants are like. Is there an husband in there, did he have any input into the decor?:rotfl:

    I'm sure they are fine.

In all seriousness, it takes all sorts, its CLEAN as a pin, and won't have a single cockroach and most people will surely want to make a place their own decoratively in any case.

Better to start with a clean canvas than a dirty one IMO.(the carpet we chucked out at the weekend REEKS) yet the house 'appears' somewhat tasteful from outside. (Carpets and fittings might not have been, but ....:D).
She should look if its the price and area she is interested in.

I didn't know there was a have you seen this thread! A friend of mine is house hunting atm and stumbled across this.

Having a second look, is this the first time you've ever seen polished, shiny, garden tiles. You'd break your leg if it rained or snowed.

I got whiplash slipping on faux concrete cobbles in the ice, and concrete yards are bad enough. I just cannot imagine what that is like.

I'm imagining the cleaning that goes on, moving all those frills and flounces to polish every day.

I'm thinking less babara Cartland viva, and more settled traveller,? The two are so close its a roughy, bout I think the nature of the soft toy is the clincher for me.

No bugs. Not tempted in the least. :D

My current bathroom temptation is however similarly gaudy. I'm after a giant clam shell to turn into a sink.

If it was settled traveller, I'd expect more horse ornaments and brass, but could be wrong.

it could be any number of types of people i suppose. it could be someone with non uk origins too.

I think Barbara Cartland is ruled out on the type of teddy (and actually the type of fabric and furnishings too.....enough frills, but wrong IYSWIM) and not travellers because not enough horses.

Whoever lives there is welcome to come and clean for me. Please.

At least the frilly one was in a Victorian house. The Victorians were into lots of frills and clutter and curtains draped everywhere, weren't they? Although my impression is that they went in for darker colours.

That amount of fuss and busy-ness would drive me demented, but then I don't like what everyone else likes these days either - all hard surfaces and neutral colours, which looks cold, unwelcoming and boring to me.

Oh, and on the subject of bathroom carpets, I'll reiterate my oft-repeated opinion that the best flooring for bathrooms is cork, with an appropriate sealant. Warm to touch, relaxing warm colour, soft feel, wipe-clean, what more's to wish for?
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

Yes, I like cork .....why does no one use it any more? I seem to remember it peeled badly. Can you get cork planks?

Newly built - but what where they thinking of with this kitchen combo?
Looks like a bunch of end of range units where they couldn't get the complete set: http://media.rightmove.co.uk/4k/3512/43532561/3512_CAH130308_IMG_00_0000_max_620x414.JPG

Hate the tiles/grouting too ... again .... what planet?

I'm not a fan of wall cupboards but they are sort of necessary in most kitchens. I like when the colours don't match, wall and base, but it needed the dark colour to be on the bottom IMO.
