4 beds for 1 person? Maybe so she can store all her stuff in it as well?
Or have children/grandchildren to stay?I could rent you and the missus a room each... Many commute to The Big Smoke from here
I cancelled my spareroom.com alert today (shouldn't have to rent for a while, touches wood). Building up to my rightmove houses for sale alert tomorrow

And yet you don't have a multi-coloured sig detailing how much of your debt or mortgage you've managed to pay off!
:rotfl:Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

That must be quite high on the annoying scale, silver. Was the culprit apologetic?
I have to own up to being the culprit. Usually the "door open" beeps sound if you leave the door open, but it was open by such a small amount that the light didn't come on or the alarm ring.
Your trick is fine if someone notices, but the house was empty. So no-one watching 5p coins drop.
The temperature of a freezer is around -18, so an increase to -2 would still mean that ice should be frozen and that everything should feel cold - just not cold enough.

Having a room each doesn't sound very MSE, this sounds like one of those scams where we pay your mortgage and you steal 50ps from our coin jar to fund your gas habit.0 -

No, cos then I'd have to update it. Rather chuffed that in the face of everything going !!!! we've managed a small over payment on the mortgage to year. But...has left me no money for a pony:(0 -

I would also want to know the sex when it was possible so I could acclimatise to the idea of being a mother to a particular sex of child and start getting things ready with that in mind. I don't think there is a 'right or wrong' way to do things, but I am pretty sure that would have been the right way for me.
It also would have given friends plenty of time to try and talk me out of names. (Although we already had a name for a boy )
We didn't intend to find out, but then I had a scan a few weeks before my due date, and she said, "that's the arm.... back.... testicles...." which rather gave it away. I think we will find out this time, though. Not so much for practical reasons - I'm not sure you really need to get different stuff for different genders, but to get used to the idea, as you say.
We had a girl's name all sorted, the boy's took longer. We finally chose for certain the night before his Brit.PasturesNew wrote: »Congrats.
Were you trying, or did it just happen?
A bit of both, really. We'd decided to try next year, found that I couldn't fit a GP's prescription appt around being in court, and thought we'd give it one month and probably nothing would happen at my advanced age (35). So we were wrong. And pretty chuffed about being wrong, too!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
