I am sorry to have been so vocal. Reading about your weekend and the atrocious behaviour made me want to go in there to FiR's boss and break all his pencils.
My sympathy is with you.
Oh no, don't be sorry, its because you care...I know that!
This particular boss is not mean... Work has to be done, someone has to do it, there is little point in being cross about it. Won't make either of us feel better.

I'm hiring again if FIR wants to become an investigator/analyst. The only problem is the salary is somewhere in the range of 10-20% of what I expect he earns now and he would have an even worse boss! Good pension scheme and up to 35 days of holiday a year though so on balance it's a great opportunity.0

He'd be good at that.
You could have parent too......0 -

Glad to. Parent can transfer their holiday allowance to FIR if you like.0 -

A BOGOF - very MSE!
OH has gone to bed early, a bit apprehensive about the Court of Appeal tomorrow. But his bands are ironed, his shoes polished, and he unearthed his wig tin in Chambers (he rarely wears robes, as he's in the employment tribunal a lot) and so he's all ready, really.
Speaking of barristers.........much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Yeah. Just to be clear, they can both have salaries paid straight to me, right....saves all the transfers0 -

This sounds very reasonable to me.0 -
Dh had a good time. He met someone who is writing a play for radio four about someone who dh knows his work intimately, and the guy was talking about it and DH took him aside and said, some of this is wrong, so the guy has asked DH to edit it for him and started haggling for money and credit, DH said...keep the money, but if I do it I'd like to be credited with the work...
Then he met an old friend of ours who does this circuit all the time and who I guffawed about because I last heard of him when reading a book ostensibly about the writer's exploration into tantric sex a couple of months ago. (DH mentioned I'd read his name in a sex book and he said depressingly he thinks he is better known for that reference than anything else lately) . DH said its shocking that the people on that circuit are playing the exact same set, and although he hasn't played with them since 2005 nothing had changed, even the rows in the band were the same!
And then the person DH hadn't heard of is having a documentary made about him and DH and he were filmed for a long time chatting then he asked DH to sit in with them and play too. So the work might get a 2 second shot of DH uncredited in a documentary soon. That guy and DH swapped numbers, which is sweet, I miss that friendliness of that world,
So all in all, I think its been a fun night and probably worth DH staying in town for a nice friendly gig.0 -

At least your OHs aren't going into the trenches, with only an occasional written letter home.
Good point.
My Dad's grandfather was career army, in the Royal Engineers, rising from private to Sergeant Major. He married during his last posting, in Chatham, and my eldest great-aunt was born there. After he left the army, he moved with wife and child to Merseyside (he was an only child, his wife was one of 13 children, and Dad reckons he couldn't stand the sheer number of in-laws. A view supported by the fact that, years later, his wife moved back to Chatham within months of being widowed).
He had 4 more daughters, including my grandmother, born the year before the First World War started, and then, when war was declared, volunteered to go back into the army, and was there from September 1914 until January 1919, by which time he was in his mid-50s. Wife was left with 5 daughters, including a baby, and a shop to run....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
I was at a conference today and two seperate speaker mentioned responses to mid life crises. It is not good news Bugslet.
Extreme sports and or triathlons are replacing affairs.
I wasn't contemplating an affair, far too messy and emotionally wearing, but even less would I contemplate extreme sports or triathlons:eek:. That's just silly:DI was thinking of not going into work until 10 one day....or may be not wearing a tie on a Friday....
Ease into it, perhaps loosen the tie slightly to start with and arrive 5 minutes late, though obviously not both on the same day.
lir, I've worked in places that weren't good or enjoyable and couldn't do it ( money was rubbish as well!) and always ended up leaving. Some people in business like making money, others like closing sales, I love it when my staff tell me it's the best place they've every worked at. I could be richer and more 'successful', but I like an easy life ( read lazy if you wish;)).
fc, your clothes are amazing. Not that I could ever get into them!
NDG - soooooo cute! I hope you pay him the going rate:p0
