I'm beginning to think it's a conspiracy after all that lir! Don't think there is anything I can say in the way of consolation.

But I am thinking of ringing random employees just to see how awake they are in the early hours. If nothing else, I should learn some new words:o

Meh, its just bad luck. And as I said in my silver lining moments, its better to be needed than not needed, definitely!

Yours require certain rests by law, right? He doesn't and they 'have to' waive any rights to work hours.

Worse things happen at sea. ( but at sea at least you'd ruddy well get some privacy for longer than two days.)

NDG, I think if you came up with chic and gamine rather than militant lesbian, may have made your Mama fonder of her new enforced hairstyle!

Nah, "chic" is slang in my family for "well over-dressed for the occasion, AKA guilding the Lily". So I'll try for another word!

What a pain, LIR. I see no benefit in availability for the sake of it; I do a lot of emergency work, but also get stroppy if called way out of office hours for no real reason.

At sea, though, you have absolutely no privacy at all, surely?

Mr Bugs used to be in the Swedish Merchant Navy and I don't think privacy was on the agenda at all.

The drivers have to adhere to hours yes, but the two managers don't!

I was sort of thinking two people on a boat, not a huge yacht or a ship!!

Just two people and the fish.

Ah! My views of being at sea or on boats tend to centre around either tiny dinghies, or naval ships - I remember my Granny describing Grandad's first sea command as having no space at all, his "Captain's quarters" consisting of a bunk with a curtain, and a fold-down desk for when required.

Yesterday morning, on a new job, I wrote that I estimated that it would take 2 to 3 days. I also pointed out that I was going on a 10 day holiday, starting today. Quick as a flash, they asked me to try to get it finished before I go. It is not as if I have nothing to do on the day before I go away on holiday. So, I was up most of last night, until 4, although not sure how productive I was. Then up at 7 this morning, and I am going on a night flight tonight. I never sleep on planes, and our hotel check-in tomorrow is not until the afternoon.

And, no, I have not finished the job, although I got enough done to keep things under control for them for the time being.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
  • Where are you off to, GDB? I hope you have a wonderful holiday, and that they are paying you enough to make your shortage of sleep worth it (-:

Well, my timesheet says 14 hours, although I doubt I was at my best for all of that time.

We are going off to see the wedding of the daughter of some close friends in Jerusalem, plus visit family, plus staying with another friend in Ashkelon.

  • Speaking of sleep, I was up late last night, and as Isaac's at film-and-photo club, and OH is polishing his shoes and trying to find his robes for the Court of Appeal tomorrow, I'm going to have a gloriously decadent afternoon nap.
