Refusal on that one. Either because it would be like moving twice or because she feels she would never end up buying.0

All the talk of tk Maxx inspired me. The resident parent is fractious and needs an outing, and I need a broom, so I'm heading north in the hope they have those nice swishy brooms in. With me good hunting.
(I also would like some nice socks, shoes -just because-, some conditioner, knitwear, a new wallet....mine is busting at the seams, but sadly not through cash...though receipts I keep forgetting to put in the business files! And And......maybe a couple of nice new bath mats.0 -

They can be negotiated down quite cheap if you have a word around. When I was moving about I got some great/cheap deals as I wasn't a "holidaymaker". Biggest deal we got was renting a house for a week over Xmas - knew the owner, knew the manager, got it for under £200 instead of the advertised £700. Nobody ever rents most holiday lets out of season, so they can let them go for almost "basic running costs" just to get something in.
No-one holidays round here, so no holiday rents available.
Talking of staying for a fortnight or a month strays into the move in here territory. She won't do that "because it is not fair on OH" I suggest it in the safe knowledge she won't do it. Bottom line is that we couldn't live together for any length of time. Truly, we are both a little nervous of the idea of living close to each other, but being far apart when she is alone and unsupported is a current situation that is unsustainable.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I feel cheated!
Fancied fish and chips for tea so went to my usual chippy. I usually go for the 300 cals fish combo as the portion sizes are about right. Couldn't see it on the menu so asked if they still did it. Yes, it's called the 400 cals meal now. Super, I think, perhaps a few more chips.
Anyway, I get it home and can't believe my eyes. Usually the mushy peas come in their own little carton, which is separate from the fish / chip tray. Not this time. It was inside the (small) tray, at the expense of the chips.
I had 12 chips. Yes, TWELVE chips. Didn't take long to count them.
There were probably about 25% of the usual amount of chips, for the same price. If they'd explained the changes then I could have made an informed choice but they implied it was actually a bigger meal.
I really do feel cheated. And still hungry.
I'll go in to let them know my feelings when I'm next passing, and will try out the other chippy locally to see if they're better.
I find that a good chippy is becoming harder & harder to find.
Round my waymost chppy's are guff.
I now only really partake in a chippy when I go to the seaside. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
