I've been a bit disappointed with Car Auctions recently. I've thought about changing my current Peugeot 307 I bought at a BCA Motability Auction five years ago. It was a year old had done 8,000 miles and still had two years manufacturers warranty left. I purchased it for £6,500 which was half the price when new. Unfortunately these bargains aren't around anymore. Some of the prices I've seen stuff go for has amazed me,the second hand market seems very buoyant at the moment.

I'll probably break my golden rule and buy a new next year.
There was a news piece yesterday morning that said second hand market was doing well and auctions were reporting surprisingly high prices compared to the last couple of years.

I've only been in once! We don't have one here but I discovered they had one in the next big town so we visited....the next time we went, it had gone.
Just went to their website, they are the same group as that Home Sense as it offered me to find one/other of the two stores.

Their store locator says Ipswich is your nearest (10-12 miles). First Floor, Buttermarket Shopping Centre IP1 1DT.

    Next is Colchester.

Yes, but what is their gravy like?;)

This is like the apocryphal advert in Wigan.

'Pie, pint and a women for £10.'

My only thought on buying is that cars like VWs are probably quite popular so may depriciate less in the first few years than less popular makes and thus have more left to depriciate over the rest of their life making the advantage of buying 1-3 years old smaller than for less popular brands. Don't Peugeot do a hard top convertible and you have been happy with a peugeot before?

I was happy with the 106, yes.
The peugeot hard top convertible doesn't appeal so much, based purely on style/aesthetics I think. The 308 isn't appealing to me really.
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Most amazing bath mats in costco and only about £11.

I don't think I've ever been to a Costco. I will see if we have one near us.

Disappointing haul at tk Maxx. Did get bath matts, but only two...will need more. Few nice pairs of shoes, including two pairs of flats I liked...that almost never happens.,,,but neither were in my size today. I dithered over maybe buying the bigger pair for swollen feet days but decided against it as they were quite narrow, just longer. Grrrr. Beautiful great boots in every single size but the two I'd buy boots in. Why no half sizes for boots these days? I thought about the size that fitted today then thought nope....need to allow for swelling room and more sock room.......really frustrating, coz I liked them. Buying shoes is a pita these days!

I did help an older lady with a walking frame choose some glittery flats though. :). (I would have had them if they were in my size).

Completely agree with Viva on this. Plus, I also feel it should be up to me who I tell what's going on, not for every random yoo-ha to read all about it.

    .

DH keeps a face book page so that people can find him, but not find out about him. You'll not see that he's married or what he's up to, nor i don't think many or any pictures (we have talked about putting a puppy picture on there).

That way for bosses or potential employers or anyone else dubiously interested...most likely searches we reckon are done by aunts and cousins:). He appears, but no running commentary on life.

Edit...its my fear on the work aspect...that clients refer to things about our lives if that's how we do it. Think its worth doing though. The question is when.....now? I don't want any clients until spring now...should I put up a facebook page and look coolly unavailable with a no current availability until spring?

Most of Skoda is in the middle of a model change at the moment, meaning that there are 6 month old ones going cheap.

Have a lok at Arnold Clark's website seems to have stuff cheaper than anywhere else. Just god luck on their aftersales, it's crap (although any dealer is happy to do most the work; my Jag came from Grange, and has had a certain amount of warranty work done at Lookers or Stratstone)

I have been resisting saying so (again) but the 'obvious' solution would be for her to live with you whilst house hunting locally but I would like to flag up my boss and his DW, just after they became empty nesters they had his mother move in 'for a few weeks' just while she got over a fall and had her house adapted for downstairs living. 4 years later she was still there, refusing too move in too sheltered accomodation as she was 'almost ready to move back home' but each time the move back got near she would have another 'turn/illness' which prevented her moving out 'quite yet'. The overall stress on their relationship and loss of lifestyle was huge. You have been warned.

Not happening. On her side or on my side. She can and should rent somewhere in order to explore the areas etc but she won't.

I thought it was standard practice for big companies when sued in small claims court, fail to defend and then apply for judgement to be set aside. Do you know if they are good for any damages you might eventually be awarded?
    I think....
