I don't do facebook. Instinctively I don't like it, but at the library I see the wrong side of it - people who are so addicted to it that they are abusive if they can't get online and update their status. Women who don't attend to their children in the adjacent pushchair because they are too busy seeing what their friends are up to. Children who reveal far too much info about themselves and then their parents come in asking for advice on online bullying. It is not a good advert for the service.

I know that is not most peoples' experience, but it puts me off nevertheless.

Really, who likes killing flies is not that an important factor in relationships.

I have gone the other way this Summer: rather than worrying about swatting, I installed flyscreens. I'm now wondering how I managed to do without. Best part was on a hot summer's night you could leave all of the curtains open and any little breeze that was out there would come straight in. Lovely.

We have a mosquito net over the bed, its helps, but there is still that noise. And the cats don't always close the net once they come in......born in a barn, blame the parents.

Viva I know you were looking in to a sleep out - did you get anywhere.

DW has a phobia about flies and doesn't like opening the big doors (our 'friendly' neighbour keeps their bins in the passage way between our extension and theirs which doesn't help). I wonder if we could get a screen with a 'door section' to cover the whole opening or it it would ruin the effect of the whole room opening on to the garden. We also have venetian blinds over the opening to keep the heat/sun out so it would need to fit with them as well.

Facebook adds seem convinced I must be interested in local dating, not sure why. We use it as a chat app and for looking at photos other people share that way, being an old git I would sooner use email and messenger/skype for those purposes but the world moves on.
    I think....

No luck yet on the sleepout michaels. My speculative income has dropped a bit this year due to a deal failing to reach fruition, so it will go on the back burner for a while. The library job pays my day to day living costs, everything else comes out of my other earnings. Oh well, there's always next year...

ETA: I'd look at the price of getting proper fly screen doors installed if the aesthetic is important. They are fabulous once you have them, as you just leave those shut and no nasties get in but the house is still lovely and airy. I hasten to add I've yet to sort out a door solution as they are more expensive but my windows are at least done.

I 'do' Facebook as a means of advertising and a place to keep in touch with extended family rather than as a social or gaming thing....but I do know the ones you are talking about. Nothing worse than getting a wall full of games stuff or the most intimate information that no-one really needs to know!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I think the type of people who go into the library to access facebook, as opposed to access it on their smart phone or at home is very different from the average user.

Facebook messenger is now available as a separate app, rather than chatting through facebook..

Get a headcam and video it for her to look at?

She really needs to move down to where you are first maybe. Get a local rental then look once she's in the area.

Refusal on that one. Either because it would be like moving twice or because she feels she would never end up buying.
