Possibly, if and when she got a more local job but too much uncertainty and also I would be leaving the house at 6.30/7 and she would likely still be in bed asleep!

I did just suggest to her that I would agree to buy the house if she agreed to drive me to the station, then take the car home and walk back to the station herself. The idea didn't seem to receive serious consideration though.

Ultimately I think the commute needs to be 1 hour max, so we need to be under 10 mins to the station.
The commuting is the main reason we live in one of the closest houses to the station. if i'm running, I can get from house to platform in 3 minutes :D

But are you likely to stay where you are? Friend in richmond had job in london bridge which made commute perfect then had to move to swiss cottage (Secondment) and now new job is in farringdon so horrendous commute as it involves changes in rush hour no matter which way you look.

I have recently bought a new TV for the bedroom. You can plug broadband directly into it and watch through that. I'm pretty sure you can get something if not built in as Nikks says.

Silly question :) how many people have more than 1 tv per couple? we have one and the SS's have to share when they get here and it annoys them. But I don't like the idea of having more than 1 tv in the living room, which makes me terribly old fashioned I think :o

Don't answer if it gives away too much info, but did the issue of the buses being changed ever get resolved round your way?

Yes. Council withdrew a lot of services and parents were stuffed. Some have organised privately hiring a coach/ mini bus. It has influenced peoples choice of schools, I hear.

    Oh no you don't!

    We have virgin broadband only.

If I stay with BT/O2 with free broadband it costs 11.75 per month for phone and internet - is virgin broadband only cheaper than this? Can you get a decent topcashback for broadband only connections? Won't they want to run an ugly cable somewhere across my front garden?

Edit: Just checked the site, 22.50 a month and only 26 quid TCB...joke price
    I think....

We generally also stick to one per room although the DDs have one each in their room. The DDs are PC only, DS and us have choice of watching broadcast (freeview) or via PC, downstairs TVs have various smart boxes for freeview HD/recording/internet/lan streaming although the one in the adult lounge currently only has TV.

We get 7meg standard internet and find this supports streaming two different TV channels simultaneously Why do people need higher bandwidths?

This suggests that 3mb is sufficient per HD TV.

Hmm - TalkTalk essentials seems to be 99 (159 less 60 tcb) for a year phone and broadband but I need to find out about traffic shaping and 18185 access compared to BT which is 140 plus the current free broadband runs out in April. AS yet I am not factoring in credit card cashback of 3% on 12 month upfront purchases compared to 3% cashback on direct debts from santander 1-2-3 and the extra offset mortgage interest from paying upfront as compared to paying monthly...

What do people know about how smooth (or otherwise) a combined phone and broadband switch is likely to be?
    I think....

I think that with schildren wider issues come into play sometimes.

We were always a one tv couple. Now we are a four tv household. Only one was bought by us and it has caused some 'discussion'.

I like a (small) tv in the sitting room. We have one. (given by parents when they separated and replaced a huge one that they had replaced earlier )in our room we have a small one (the only one we bought and only bought because I became more bed bound). We have a large flat screen (resident parents) in the cheese room. It's not my favourite, but I'd rather have it in the cheese room than in a reception room. Resident parent also has a television in bedroom.

Dh has a tv in London, hada free to collect one, but my dad bought him a tiny and super one, which is much better. Annoyingly he cannot get a picture ATM apart from food network. Luckily he likes the food network best anyway!

I am doing some experimental cooking today. Trying to make Gigantes (Greek giant butter beans in a tomato sauce), which are £2.99 a jar in Sainsburys. Have copied the ingredients, which somewhat unhelpfully just say "herbs". I've added herbes de Provence, which are probably totally wrong, but at least are Mediterranean, so I could just end up with some French giant baked beans. Hopefully they will taste nice, no matter how unauthentic:o.

We have a TV in the living room and a TV in each bedroom. In the bedroom, I quite often use the TV for music, instead of having a separate hifi etc. In the bedroom/office there's a separate little microsystem though.

Having a TV in bedroom has was a real bonus when DH was unwell and too ill to read a book or come downstairs.
