Is it anywhere near the big white tower you can see from the A3? I think you posted a link to that once.
Also as I grew up on a major trunk road I find I need the sound of traffic to soothe me to sleep.
I'm the same. London girl, used to general traffic noise and sirens, I now have fields but live half a mile from the motorway and the ambulance station! I like noise.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

The website that I used to make my avatars has gone
. No more changes for me unless I can dig one from an old laptop. I wanted my blue frizzy hair back.

I would love to do a London meet up.....but would probably chicken out at the last minute at the thought of driving/meeting everyone. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

Detached, really nice garden, has been rented out for a few years so inside is basic but liveable, house is 50s construction so it isn't falling down yet. Problems: close enough to the a3 to be able to hear the traffic (in the garden not in the house), price a bit toppy, and 18 minutes walk to the station which is the biggest problem.
Our friends who were buying in the same area just had their purchase fall through. Survey said house needed £150,000 of work!!
Pfffft. Sounds ok amountvof work, surely?
You get used to spending on the work, put it that way.0 -
Walking is good for you? What would the door to door be?
150K? I have been told to insure our 4 bed detached for 250k for buildings = demolition, site clearance and rebuild so 150k sounds like an awful lot of work (or a very big house).
150 k doesn't seem that bad. Roofers they need to speak to doozer's, who did part of my roof very inexpensively.
I'd add up how much we have spent so far but pastures would drive up here and chase me Around the county with a big stick yelling posh alert posh alert posh alert. And frankly I'm a little tired this morning.0 -

Any station parking available?
Otherwise you could buy an umbrella.
Personally I would forget it, 18 minutes is too far for a wet commute.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. 18min walk = 5 min cycle? buy a cheapie and lock it at the station. 5 mins means you won't get sweaty either0 -

That's true, we have spent between 110 and 120 since moving in...but then we have doubled the floorspace for the money as well as having a complete new roof.I think....0 -

I have a 15 minute walk to where I work (from where I park my car). On a nice day it is beautiful. The birds sing, the blossom is out, the magnolias look magnificent, the cats lay and sun themselves on the drives. On a wet day it is about 14 minutes too long.
18 minutes is fine if there is a wet day alternative, dreadful if not. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
