:rotfl: don't think our anecdotes are helping nikki prepare for her viva.
I think they might. We are telling stories that basically say "I was terrified but actually it was fine." So when she feels terrified, she can remind herself "They were terrified too, but they were fine so I can hope that I will be too."Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -
If your supervisor is remotely competent then you will not be allowed to submit unless the thesis is good enough to pass.
I'm not really sure what I'm hoping for with this one - supervisor is fine, but I might need him to readjust standards. Unless timescales can be readjusted (no idea).
I'd be happy with the minimum to scrape through - not going for glory - even if that involved major corrections.0 -

Yes, I was fine, even with my face melting. Got a great mark. Miss doing any public speaking really.
I'd do yours for you0 -

I have a terrible memory for correct terms, details of papers, my own name, how to string a sentence together. Especially when under a spotlight.
As I've said though, its still highly possible that I won't have to worry about any of that. Which I could live with.0 -
Its ok
1. I'm still pretty far away from having to worry about anything like that
2. I've seen enough people before and after theirs/ heard plenty enough stories
3. I get super nervous just giving a presentation. It is guaranteed that I'd look like I'm terrified (I would be!)
3. You know...you don't have to be. Its lays going to be....not 'comfortable' or some adrenaline, but it can also be kinda fun.
Not necessarily regards this one thing ( quite aware you have ha enough pressure) but just as a sort of life and career skill.0 -

Just making sure this isn't deleted in case I need to uphold this generous offer0 -

I'm fine talking about things e.g. in meetings (though still struggle to find the 'proper' terms). As soon as it becomes a presentation it is completely different.
I'm sure my colleagues will find 'opportunities' to help me overcome my issues presenting...0 -

In presentations use your power points for the terms you think you'll forget. Easy.
In presentations with out PowerPoint you can have a flash card with your name on it.:D. Or even a wrist band :rotfl:
Really good underwear, a with so many things, is an underrated tool: use it well. ( if it turns out you may need it whisper and I'll buy you some as a present if you like). Pretty, comfortable and matching, makes you feel confident.0 -
Thanks lir. I'm looking forward to some time away from it all, some fresh air, and topping up my vitamin D. The forecast is for rain from Friday though, which has put a stop to any crazy notion of not taking my wellies.
Rain dance please.
Some of us need the rain to put our smouldering bonfires out.0
