    :)All appears to be well.

I am to have a scan and await some results, but it seems that a procedure I had a couple of years ago could be the source of the symptom . Once scan/ results known other action can be decided on. The Consultant thought my GPs speedy actions were the right path to follow.

It wasn't things, just one symptom. Sorry if this is tmi (shy folks look away), but for the benefit of NP women aged 50+ on NPT and for NPT partners/husbands of such women I am going to answer fc's question...I mentioned some bleeding. Post menopausal bleeding is a cause for concern, so if there is any of this get pm status checked and follow it up.

OH offered to come with me but took myself to the appt as prior experience tells me if it were 'rough news' I would prefer to get my own head round things first . My beloved husband has not slept very well since Thursday night, I have slept just fine:) but was adopting a stoic mental attitude on the drive there:o. Happily no faux heroics needed.

Thank you all for wishing me well when I posted, I appreciate you listening and felt cared for.

So pleased it's not serious. :)

My DW had exactly the same problem, with (later, after lots of messing around) exactly the same result.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I am definitely getting her a pen and pencil set now. Will go down a treat, she can use the pen to sign when paying her half of the dinner bill.

Actually some NP may be grateful to Mrs Chewy for keeping you off the streets, I might chip in to cover her expenses.

Otherwise we could have Lydia throwing Nikkster at you instead of at the lovely LJ.

I haven't seen anything to suggest that Lydia is capable of such a terrible lapse of judgement.

A lot of my friends met their partners at university through one society or another.

One particular friend was persuaded [STRIKE]bribed[/STRIKE] by her mother to go to a particular society; as her mother thought it was about time that she found a husband and that society was where her mother thought the more suitable suitors may be lurking.

It worked - OH and I offered her a lift to go to a meet-up and in the back of the car (also accepting a lift) was her future husband.

Did her mother view the husband found at the society as a suitable one?

I also admire all the gardeners here. I garden reluctantly and badly! We're just back from N Norfolk. One chap in Upper Sheringham is selling a large bag of runner beans for 50p, huge courgettes/marrows for 20p each, and a bunch of 5 heads of garlic for £2. The beans are delicious, but I don't see him getting rich at that price. Maybe he's making something on the garlic.

My Dad takes gardening pretty seriously - the veggie kind. He even mentions it in his Who's Who entry (they are annoying - Dad's, for example, says "1 S 3 D even though the 3D came first in time). He bagged a bomb site over the road in Blackheath when my parents first married, as they didn't have a garden, and the said bomb site had been through a succession of builder / developer owners who kept going bust, and grew veggies there.

In their Kent house, he now has the ability to fulfill all his ambitions, and has a greenhouse, a polytunnel, a netted-over place for raspberry and strawberry plants, and a large veggie patch, fenced off from rabbits, which is about 100 ft x 140 ft (I estimate, not sure exactly).

Hence I'm in the fortunate position of not having to do much of the hard work, but benefitting from a lot of the produce, free. People staying there, especially descendants, tend to get roped in for some free labour, but it's worth it.

Just been to visit for son (read: take him out for lunch), accosted by these people at traffic lights trying to wash your windscreen. Before you blink they have doodled foam over the screen. One nearly got inot a fight with an aggressive motorist who wasn't happy. GDB's location I think.

Definitely. They have been married for about 20+ years, so it was successful.

These two posts in combination literally made me laugh out loud. Thank you both for making my day. :D

Indeed, but possibly not with Nikkster.
Although ... who knows? Perhaps she would appreciate his sense of humour. I often wonder to what extent his online persona is the same as his RL one.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Went online to by children's treasury of verse to find its no longer in print. Hmmm.

Any one have any more up to date ideas for traditional poetry for the very, very young? Its a first birthday gift, so rhythm and metre is important, combined with something that daddy might be enchanted to read to while so young is a bonus, and pictures being beautiful s a must. What is childhood without a much loved book that seems old enough to scribble in by the time you are 20 months?

Have you tried amazon and eBay. I expect you probably have looked already but you can sometimes get stuff (new) on there which is out of print.
