I love raw juices......but bloat on them now. I cannot cope with much raw at all. In that I can some eat it, but not much at a time. I thought it was the fibre, initially, and probably related to the slow metabolic rate I suffer, but maybe not.... E.g. We quite often have crudite and dip (we call this crud for short....' crud for lunch?' Doesn't mean junk food but raw food here:). But I was finishing that I was feeling a bit grim after eating. That it was after so many foods also I suppose made intolerances seem less likely to us. Who knows, maybe its a mixture of things.....

Tbh, if I can live off raw juice I'd not be that miserable....apple celery cucumber and mint or parsely especially:D. Only.......I wish juicers were easier to clean!:rotfl:

I am going to make her some diff ones in a liquidiser...see how she likes them. I have never had them either.
    Tight alert!

Imagine yourself in the shoes of the lowly beaten-down employee who fears for their job every minute they enter the building ... and can only see another 30-40 years of this stretching ahead.... having to beg for holiday dates, fearful of oversleeping one morning in 5 years, having to use up holidays to get the car fixed, boiler fixed, wait for deliveries.... then ask yourself if 20+8 is enough.

    :)

....don't forget the cr&p pay as well :)

None of our emplyees has ever been 'beaten down' by working with us (the opposite usually) as we are seen as a 'glamourous' industry and people are depserate to work within it.........and then change their minds after 6 months.:)

I get about 2 or 3 application s every week from people wanting to work for free (internships) .....but I don't have the time to use them and find them a distraction as a proper internship 'teaches' them somthing and I don't have the time to do that.

In the US they have such few allowed hols that they have to link public hoilidays to weekends so people can escape for three days once a month. Thanksgiving is a smart one, as by being a Thursday they can link it to the weekend by taking Friday off their allowed holidays.

And only one in seven need a passport because their remaining hoildays are too short to go abroad anyway.

OH got 22+BH, after 10 years service he has gained 1 more day.

I work for myself so get what I want when I want  but often take work with me and sometimes end up taking phone calls on my mobile on holiday at random times.

Not sure OH takes all his days and I do get pee'd off when he travels on business on a Saturday (normal work is Monday to Friday) and doesn't return til the following Friday. I remind him that the working time directive has a max hours per week which basically covers a return flight to Oz, so really he should be given a week off in lieu when he goes there.

In my job the holidays are long but so badly arranged there's no advantage to having them.

You always pay top dollar for every holiday and everywhere's crowded. Don't ask me the answer, but as this country spends more research on glue than it does on education and pretty much lets the polticians, well let's be polite and say "guess" what's the best next policy, that's pretty much the best we'll get.

Unless your OH's hols synch with yours, that's tough. I think the Netherlands staggers holidays in different districts to stop the roads and resorts being congested. But then they generally act as if they're cleverer than us in policy areas so who's surprised?

Sorry "behave" sounds like a better word than "act" now I think about it!

I get 20 as standard but also a ridiculous flex account which I can either use to buy childcare vouchers, cycle to work vouchers, or another 15 days' holiday. Guess which I buy...

We could have Bonfire Night off .

We had a bonfire tonight. The first one in a couple of years. It was pretty big and has burnt down really well. OH has damped down around it so it can burn itself out overnight.

I like bonfires, there is something very comforting about them. We had a BBQ for dinner then OH went off to light it. I had a bath then went to stand and watch too...in my dressing gown and slippers.

As we pottered in the garden this afternoon OH strimmed the sturdy nettles from our muck heap...and 'found' (we knew it was there though) a small garden tractor with plough attachment. It is ancient. People who lived here before us lived the good life here, and so this thing has been here for about 40 years. We used to use it, but it has not been moved for about 12 years and I am not sure how it will ever get moved now.

DD had a break from the computer and went out for a hack, she and her friend called in on their way round for a cold drink . DD was riding for soemone who is away for the weekend - a throughbred x, part appaloosa, gelding, lovely face with a spotty backend (for those who like such detail).

Seeing her on horseback on the drive made me think kindly thoughts about owning horses. It has worn off now.

I'm enjoying seeing the BBC photos of the east getting lots of rain as we had warm and mostly sunny although not being in the se makes you realise how se centric the BBC news is.

Is stat min holiday 20 plus bank hols or 20 Inc bank hols?

I also used to try and work between Xmas and new year because of the easy commute and quiet office for getting lots done but it isn't an option with kids.
    I think....
