That's all I want
So long as banks are clear about the information used, people can't complain if they enter the wrong info. What will your verse be?

Quite. Although I'd still maintain that it's still the responsibility of people to ensure the information they input is correct.urs sinserly,

It's hard to argue with that.
I just think that people need to know how payments are processed to know the appropriate amount of care that should be taken. If they have a genuine (and in my opinion, reasonable) belief that the account name is checked, then they would not necessarily exercise as much care in checking the other details. What will your verse be?

Perhaps the banks could also add a bold warning that payment to the wrong account by providing, for any reason, the incorrect sort code or account number, can lead to the total loss of the amount of money being transferred.0 -
By adding all these things people suggest should be added, the only thing that would be achieved is that there's way too much information to read, so people will ignore it.
What is so terribly hard by just typing the correct numbers, and checking that you did type the right numbers, on the confirmation screen?
When you make a phone call, would you expect to receive a looooong message about what might happen if you dial the wrong number, before you dial the number? Or do you just know that if you dial a wrong number, you may be charged for making the wrong call?
What's wrong with some people these days?? They can all operate smart phones and iPads and PCs and Facebook accounts with no problem, but they can't ensure they type a 6 digit number followed by an 8 digit number correctly?0 -

This thread is like watching a hamster run on a wheel continuously, because people keep posting and ignoring points that have already been made. I'll just quote my earlier post:I just think that people need to know how payments are processed to know the appropriate amount of care that should be taken. Note that I'm not asking for a ton of literature to be posted on the faster payments page; just a simple warning message that the account name isn't used to identify the payee. What will your verse be?

Never mind what you have been asking - - my previous post was in response to this:Perhaps the banks could also add a bold warning that payment to the wrong account by providing, for any reason, the incorrect sort code or account number, can lead to the total loss of the amount of money being transferred.0 -
