Put them in a small tub in your handbag or glove compartment in your car. When you do visit somewhere where they charge 10p for a sachet or don't have a certain sauce, you can get them out of your tub.
My friend does this as she meets up with her sister and the place they go to only gives them one sachet free per meal.
Why is this thread attracting so many suggestions of questionable legality and appalling morality? It's precisely this sort of behaviour that causes places to charge 10p per sachet, or limit the supply to one per meal, and makes life more difficult for honest customers.0 -
When ordering a take-away, cook your own rice? I go one better: when ordering a take-away, I cook my own take-away... It saves £££s.0

several of the pubs near us that do this offer actually have on the menu and posters "*2 for 1 - *when two people eat..."
we tried it once when only 3 of us and when they brought the cutlery she asked where the 4th person was, we said not here yet, and she still only left 3 cutlery, when she brought the food she again asked and we said oh they in toilet, she came back about five mins later and plainly said "there are only 3 of you aren't there??" we said yes, and she said she wasn't bringing the other meal as there has to be an even number of people...
when we went to pay they tried to charge us full price for the one meal, and we had to kick up a fuss to only pay for two meals not three..
I've had an imaginary friend with us but we were a party of seven and we had a great story about an imaginary row but no one asked... sulk. I was younger, hungrier and a lot poorer then but it was a laugh.0 -
Mcdonalds hot drink loyalty cards can be bought for about 50p each on ebay, saving up to £1 on each hot drink. Also, sometimes at the drive thru, they forget to collect the card when ordering a few things at once, saving even more.0

Hi,
This is sort of a going out tip but is good if your going to a party and looking to take a tasty treat.
I always have lurking in cupboards chili powder and the like as I like making curries or other spicy food.
All you need is:
1 bag of salted peanuts (increase amounts of powder for larger amounts)
1-2 tbs chilli powder
1-2 tsp paprika
1tsp tumeric
splash of water
Place all powders in a bowl add a splash of water to combine the powders into a paste (if you add to much water add more powders to stop it being too watery) put the peanuts into the paste and coat them well.
Pop the coated peanuts into a preheated oven on a baking try for 7-10mins at 190oc to dry them shake tray half way through to stop peanuts catching.
This was a really good idea passed down from friend and it saves an a tidy penny compared to buying those spicy nuts from the shops which aren't as good.
And you can always change the recipe to suit your taste as one shown is a basic using what had hiding in cupboards.

We occasionally buy the Indain meal deals at the take away. You know one rice, one bread a side and a meat dish. I cook one portion of rice at home and always have frozen parathas so I cook one of those too. When the take away arrives I tip the 'professional' rice in the rice cooker and give it a good mix not forgetting to swish some plain rice around the tin to get the last bits. (also do this with the meat tine too) We then have flavoured rice each. We share the meat and side and half half naan and half home cooked bread.0

When my children were young we used to make 'Hawaiian Toast' which was like cheap pizza - one piece of toast, top with slice of ham, top that with pineapple (ring was best) then grate cheese over, grill till bubbly. Now they are adults they still love this.
Back on subject tho - I agree about making your own rice and buying naan bread etc at the market ready to heat in the oven whilst waiting for the delivery to come. On fish n chips - we always order one fish and chips, and fry up two eggs, divide the fish and have half fish, an egg and chips. Cheaper than 2 portions and just as nice.
