I never buy mushy peas at the chipshop, nor the curry sauce. I keep good mushy peas in the cupboard (tin of Harry Ramsdens can be 3 for £1 if you keep your eyes out, then stock up). Half a tin of those at full price is 25p, compared to £1 at the chippy.

For curry sauce, Asda instant Chip Shop Style Curry Sauce is £0.78 and is good for loads of portions, compared to a chippy's £1/pot.

I try to do the same with pies, at £1 when on offer instead of £2.50 in the chippy (Pukka ones). But that's a logistical nightmare as the chips are hot and the pie's cold, so I do have to cook the pie, then re-nuke the chips.

Asda smart price mushy peas are actually quite good too.

It's not being stingy, it's getting the same (or equivalent) for less. What this site is all about.
Which I wholeheartedly agree with, but in the case of the original post about the "MallyMac" - it isn't the same or of any sort of equivalency; it's a double cheeseburger with big mac sauce. Nothing special.

    Things like:

"Instead of ordering a pizza from Domino's for £9.99 you can buy a one from Tesco for 99P, Garlic bread for 99p and even a bag of potato wedge's for 70p..."

is not a tip per se. The Tesco pizza won't be of the same quality and certainly not the same taste. Usually people eat out because they can't be bothered to cook so merely get someone else to do it for them :P

But if the OP feels that this is equivalent enough to a Big Mac (e.g. they're not interested in the extra piece of bun in the middle) then that counts as money saving for them.
Without seeing the two side by side it's hard for me to say whether the differences are big enough to not make them comparable for me.

I completely agree with you on this one, though I guess again if others feel that by doing this they are getting the same as a pizza delivery then that's up to them.
  • Instead of buying expensive butter, just buy own brand margarine and rip some holes in the bread instead.

Chicago Town Pepperoni Pizza (2 for £5 at Iceland currently) + a red or green pepper sliced (3 for £1 sometimes) + fresh garlic chopped (25p) + cooked sweet corn (cheap frozen bag £1)

Better pizza than any takeaway ordered one !!

Be particularly careful when ordering pizzas.
For those not mathematically minded you would be amazed at the value differences.
In our local they do 10 inch or 12 inch with only a £1 difference. Ie £5 or £6
On the face of it 50p an inch as a constant.
Now the area of a circle is Pye x Radius Squared.
As Pye is constant you can ignore.
Therefore Radius Squared for 10 inch is 25, for 12 inch is 36.
That means a Pizza only 2 inch bigger is actually 44% bigger.
    Price increase only 20%.
    You get the drift.

    MMM Pizza Pi.
(Not Pye argh, sorry great tip but !!!!!! is Pye)

Saving for a year in Japan.
I need around £10,000. Help me get there!

Are you serious?! You're holding up Dominos as a benchmark for quality? I'm partial to the odd Dominos, but to suggest they are in anyway 'better' than a Tesco pizza is absurd.

True - though on a personal level I'd back a £4 Waitrose fresh pizza against anything you'll ever find in a chain restaurant, and at a fraction of the price.
