Hi thanks for input, we have said we want to have a look about and I know it defeats the object of AI but we said we will eat out one of the days. It worked out loads cheaper for us to go AI than half board or self catering. Me and my husband did self catering last year and spent about £450 so with 2 kids in tow it would be a lot more. What sort of places do you stay at, sounds dodgy to me!
We've used the clubs for the children and have found that a break from the sun doing activities in an air-conditioned rooms with new friends is fun for them.
I know it wasn't the original question but I'm another who doesn't see the point of AI, that's not what I travel for. Even on 'chill-out' holidays I still want to see local towns, visit a range of local restaurants, speak to people etc. I suppose if OP is Spanish she doesn't feel the need.0 -
Yet to come across a reputable kids club, they're mainly manned by half cut 20 year olds who can't be bothered.Hi thanks for input, we have said we want to have a look about and I know it defeats the object of AI but we said we will eat out one of the days. I understand that, I did the same. I had a fantastic half board deal to a hotel in Sorrento a few years ago and we agree that if the food was awful we'd eat out as the cost was cheaper than B&B. Turned out it was great and we ate there every night. After a day's sight seeing it was great.
I don't think you're foolish to eat out. I think taking your girls to a Spanish restaurant and encouraging them to speak a few words is a great idea.0 -
Thank you, I just love the atmosphere with the locals and want the girls to experience it, im sure they will have fun in the hotel also but there is nothing like that dining out atmosphere. We loved our honeymoon in Greece last year as we had that atmosphere every night and also the Greek dancing etc. Just something u don't get at homeI understand that, I did the same. Hollie84,
I’m still concerned that you don’t seem to have taken on board my caution that you need to take with you an emergency reserve in cash Euros.
Forget the price of bottles of water and drinks after midnight. If you need to take a child to hospital at 2 am in a taxi with a suspected case of meningitis, you won’t get anywhere by waving British plastic at the driver.
You’re clearly a devoted parent: think this through and take an extra €500 or €1,000 with you in cash. It isn’t spending money, it’s emergency money.
PS. I thoroughly agree with you and maman about eating out. locally! :EasterBunNothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance

But there are cash machines?I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -
So, if your child suffered an accident or became seriously ill in the middle of the night, you'd go looking for a cash machine???
If it died or suffered a lifelong impediment as a result of this delay you'd justify it by saying that it wasn't your fault, you couldn't find a hole-in-the-wall that accepted your plastic?

If it was that serious you'd get reception to call for a doctor and an ambulance, we're talking Spain, not Outer Mongolia.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0 -

If your child was seriously ill you would call an ambulance, only a complete idiot would call a taxi.0 -
Back on topic, we are going to Spain for 7 days, last week in August, the hotel is All Inclusive and we don't intend to do any trips etc, I will be taking 200 Euros, I will also take 2 credit cards and my debit card, there is an ATM right outside our hotel so I see no good reason for having large amounts of cash sitting in the hotel rooms safe.I hate football and do wish people wouldn't keep talking about it like it's the most important thing in the world0
