Good point Jim. I was more referring to it being a car bought purely on looks alone, like some of the others mentioned.

It's actually reliable and not too badly priced, but there are cars that drive better for less.

Kia's own Cee'd for example - drives better, cheaper to buy, cheaper to tax, better MPG, larger boot...overshadowed 50 to 1 by the Sportage, because of it's looks.

    And Peugeot ;)

But yeah, it's weird how they're sh*t in the UK, but all over Europe everyone drives them. Almost like they sell us the cars they built on Friday afternoon.

Top Gear made a (rare these days!) very astute point about all cars of this type being beaten in almost every way by the same manufacturer's standard car that the "on stilts" version is based upon.

I don't understand the appeal of these things... they're not particularly any good off-road, and a standard car is quite capable of being driven on grass -- I've taken mine to enough music festivals to testify to that :D

Yes, that's right they did - my head nearly fell off as I was nodding so vigorously in agreement :D

The ceed is ok, but we wanted a more upright car for the driving position, previously had a citroen xsara Picasso and the wife liked the more upright driving position so that was deciding factor. And I'd be lying if I didn't say its looks played a great part in the decision we made, but resale values are pretty good on these also (although to be fair I don't know what resale value is on a ceed). The price is very good for what you get but we also got a decent discount by using a broker.

We have already tried to discuss this matter, but I think the mods came in to clean the thread up...

Yes, see posts have been deleted. Don't understand why, nothing offensive had been said. :(

You know, I was sceptical about that guy last night, not sure he was a serious buyer at all, maybe it's just me but the repeated use of "range" got right on my nerves. And I did love the winter comment
