French. . Sorry no! !
The Modus isn't bad to be fair, maybe a bit larger than what you are looking for.
Interesting how a Spanish car is being considered by you though - Spain, that great nation of car builders...
I know everyone is going to jump in now and tell us it's a VW, and how good they are. Well, they're not very good, and if we're going to talk about relations, the Modus is a very close relative of the excellent Nissan Note. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -

I have a Nissan Note, and "excellent" is not a word that I would use to describe itI want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

On the plus side they have automatic RID's (revenge illumination devices) that flash the headlights at all overtaking drivers.
what??? i think you might have a lazy right foot. what a ridiculous ting to say.0 -

vws are all pretty reliable. they may not be as "bomb proof" as in the past. but when they fail they fail predictably (e.g. all common faults, easy to diagnose). French cars on the other hand, they're like rovers, they fail unpredictably and everyone is left scratching their heads trying to figure out what's wrong.
btw, the spnaish probably design the exterior and the interior, but everything else is German, all engines and gearboxes are common vw stuff.0 -
I like the VW Golf, or, if too big, the Polo. Very reliable cars both of them. And very good mileage to the gallon if you get the diesel rather than the petrol editions.0

Well, I was a VW Service Manager for a number of years, and we had plenty of 'one off' problems, and some cars that were downright unfixable.
Are your beliefs based on personal experience like mine, or effective marketing? And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -

Just not very good OMPG (oil miles per gallon), which bumps up the running costs...And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -
Do you have anything constructive to say ?
I have lots of constructive things to say, but sometimes one needs a break from being constructive.
Sarcasm may be the lowest form of wit, but it's sure as hell the funniestI like the VW Golf, or, if too big, the Polo. Very reliable cars both of them. And very good mileage to the gallon if you get the diesel rather than the petrol editions.
Correction, they were reliable in the 1980's.......
The reputation has stuck for years, down the generations through gossip and quite frankly needs to die a death.
When pushed, nobody seems to know exactly why they think they're reliable.
"they just are" or "everyone knows they are" is the usual response. VW love it though, look at the ads "just like a Golf".
Just like an Audi A3, just like a Skoda Octavia, just like a Seat Leon.... Same car, without the legendary reliability, strange that.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

+1 especially the bit I have highlighted.
In truth, I don't think they have ever been great, even the 80's models. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -

I have no idea, maybe they were good by comparison or maybe they we're "good" like a BMW 3 Series? Which we all know was only good as a "German car" status symbol back in the 1980's.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”
