That's nearly right Asus Mobo, though in certain circumstances it is possible to lose some information; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/312369/
Yes, it is also possible to retrieve, but the OP is understandably nervous.0 -
My PC was not built, was bought direct from a computer shop. The other computers in the house are made by him.
After I got my files back-up I dont mind what I do,obviously, a full format and re-installing Windows properly would be a good idea.
If shop bought see if you have a restore CD or at least read the manual as Installing XP from an XP CD is time consuming but I prefer it as its more customisable, but your PC may lack specific drivers from a a manul install, sp read any manual you have or at least visit the makers website for instructions0 -
Its a Time computer. Shop was a small one and don't think it still exists, one of those small shops. Anyways,would prefer to do it from CD and listen to you lot, feel more reassured that way.0

So, you can try to retrieve your files using the Linux Live CD here; ftp://ftp.uni-kl.de/pub/linux/knoppix/KNOPPIX_V5.1.0CD-2006-12-30-EN.iso
Download it, burn to a CD using Nero on your laptop and boot up with it.0 -
Whilst you are doing that on the laptop.....
Boot up with the PC Doctor CD0 -

He is unlikely to have a restore disc.
From a customer of the former TIME;
"call our technical support line at £1 per minute and purchase RELOAD disc at £59.99. Same old story of why we dont get this cd included is due to Microsoft not allowing it to be included."0 -
