I'm wondering who else was in the car with the OP and whether they drove the car at the guy either, before, after or during the attack.

It seems to me quite a bit is being left out of this and may be why the insurance wants nothing to do with it.

I suspect the OP wasn't arrested, but was invited to go down to the station to give a station, and thinks that that constitutes an arrest.
