Had a nice long conversation with HSBC yesterday about my overdraft: essentially I received a letter saying they need me to pay off my £1100 overdraft this week (I got the email a couple of weeks ago) so I gave them a call. First lady says that it is fine, just a general letter but because the OD is in credit there will be no further action... I'm a bit overcautious when it comes to money so asked to her to double check which she then reassures me is all ok.

So I call the number on the letter rather than HSBC general line and they said that they were in fact withdrawing it. I explained that last year I had health issues etc and that this year so far I have paid back around £4k so things are on the up, but that like a sensible person I'm paying off the ones with highest interest.

Anyway long story short, the second lady was very helpful and they've agreed that I can pay back £100 a month (which is what I had started doing) and each month after this payment date they with lower my OD allowance by that amount.

So really it was just to say that it is definitely worth calling people and speaking to them, I must admit I had a massive panic when I got the letter and started trying to figure out where I could get the money from, but turns out they were fine and just wanted to know I could do it ok.

Also, sensibly I've looked at my two credit cards and my overdraft and rather than paying them all off equally, I'm paying the minimum (plus a fiver for paranoias sake!) off the 0% for 22 months one and then whacking up the payment on the other two - something I should have done to start with but for some reason in my head it was nicer to pay off the same to each one.

Anywho... I am basically on a major scrounge to try to get extra money saved up and am desperately running out of ideas.

I'm signed up to pretty much every survey site and going through them all, I check market research sites x 3 each day, FieldAgent, TextBroker, signed up to Fiverr and FiveSquids yesterday (although not holding much hope), done craft bits but had to stop as insurance was too high, checking voucher codes, eBayed/FB'd most of my posessions and made sure that all my direct debits are accounted for (need to change life insurance and save about £300 a year but that's the last one). And now I'm stuck.

I read somewhere about answering questions online but none of them are taking people, also about writing subtitles but have no idea where to look and google doesn't seem to like it.

If anyone has any ideas that I have missed, pleased feel free to let me know as I am on a real motivational low at the moment, which is a shame as I know deep down that I have improved so much since last year!

Sorry for the long post, I've checked here and the up your income board so many times in the hope I might hit a brainwave that I've missed!

Off to try to comp now.....

    Love x

    Hi

Sorry to hear about the OD. OD`s are really horrible. It took me years to clear £1600. Every time I got paid it got swallow up. I kept thinking `well, this month will be an easy month.. blah blah`.

Well easy months never happened. It was always something that needed money spent in it. Washing Machine breaking down, holes in the car tyres,

In the end, I went into Barclay and said `cut the OD to Max. £500.00. (As I wanted a bit of flex for the mortgage.)

If you are able to get to London for Focus groups that pay cash-in hand, or BACS or cheques. Sometimes they do-online groups. Both groups pay around £40.00 - £100.00 per group.

If you want more info on research group/s, let me know & I can PM you.

£2 for selling hair care stuff to a colleague. I have been tending to try and do this instead of listing some things on eBay for 99p, while still listing others. It's a bit of a standing joke now that I should have one of those big coats to open it and have stuff for sale hanging off the lining.

Found out today I'm getting £100 by way of 'compensation' after transferring a personal pension and no payments being taken. That's completely out of the blue after I spotted my pension payments weren't being made, so in effect I have had a little break, that couldn't have come at a better time.

Good luck all, I hope you have a fantastic money making few days into the Bank Holiday. Thanks for all the contributions to this thread, I feel like it has kept me on the straight and narrow in a month where I've had to either pay or budget for a new washing machine, car insurance, a will and a replacement tyre x

Sending you lots of positive vibes and computer hugs Djelhi Bhelli xx

On the subject of calling people, I wish I had found the guts to do that, I used to just put credit card letters in a drawer without opening them -- worst plan ever which led to too much stress, I transferred the debt to a bank loan and paid it off, but I wish I'd been more savvy to do that sooner.

  • Here's an idea.
Sometimes I spot a shopping trolley that hasn't been taken back and I go and get the pound.
As an example,I saw two this afternoon at my local shopping centre that I could of taken back (but I left them today). That would of been £2 I could of made for 10-15 minute's work. That actually works out at £8 per hour if I compare it to normal work.
Just think,it would get you well on your way to the £10 a day if you keep your eyes peeled (have I got the idea of this thread right?)
