Moved House and Orange/EE no signal in area
We are currently with Orange/EE however have just moved house and they have no service at all in the house or surrounding area where we live. I have checked different coverages and the only one that can provide a service is O2, we are in the middle of a contract so can the fact that they provide no service to that area be a reason to leave the contract and how you can O2 coverage there when other networks cannot? Also how reliable are the coverage checkers?

No it's not a reason to get out of your contract. No network can provide 100% coverage.0 -
Even though I cannot get any coverage whatsoever at home? Surely not! What is the point of a mobile phone when I cannot use it when I need to and most of the time I will be calling/texting at home not when I am at work.0

Yep, are they not meant to provide a service? It would be pointless if I couldn't use my phone for texting or calling at home.0 -

No mobile phone contract will guarantee you coverage all the time. That would be impossible.
It isn't orange/EE's fault you decided to move somewhere where you don't receive a signal. When you take out a contract with them, they don't promise that your phone will work where you live.
I feel your frustration but unfortunately there is no clause in your minimum term contract that will allow you to cancel penalty free.
HOWEVER they MAY !(or may not) reach a compromise with you where they allow you to leave at a reduced rate. This will be a purely good will gesture though.
Vodaphone offer signal boosting equipment for customers in your situation, I'm not sure if orange / EE offer anything similar.0 -
It was your choice to move house not Orange hence they are not responsible for providing a signal in an area they don't coverIt's not just about the money0

But they are providing a service. They guaranteed that they will provide you with reception in ninety something percent of the country, not 100% and as long as they do that, they aren't breaking their side of the contract I'm afraid.0 -
On a practical basis how long does your contract have to run, how much is it per month, and did they supply you with a handset and if so, what one?0

love it i moved and its the networks fault
classic blame gameWhat goes around-comes around0 -
It might be worth discussing this with EE/Orange. The same thing happened to me some years ago when I moved house. Orange suspended my account with them (no further payments) and organised a free basic phone on Vodafone then changed back when Orange improved coverage. Mind you, at that time I think they were linked through Hutchison Whampoa or something.0
