Thanks for all the advice apart from the one sarcastic post, my contract is due to run until late next year so still a bit of a way to go there however I did not take a handset from them, I brought my own. I'll have a chat with Orange and see what they can do.

I thought SIM only contracts with Orange only lasted 12 months max?

Sorry I apologise, I forgot, I did get a phone with the contract however sold that and kept my current handset, and that contract was for 24 months.

This happened to me with TMobile. They weren't prepared to cancel but they did agree to reduce the rental by 50%. Not perfect but better than it might have been.
