I agree, I posted the same question with the same lack of useful sites. I just got slated because I am not willing to spend £400 plus. is this or is it not a money saving site ?
  • Hi there

I'm interested in buying the imperial 3500 king size mattress that is advertised via Groupon.

Can anyone shed some light on their purchases and whether it is worth buying one of these mattresses?

Any help would be great - GUS127 - how is your mattress?

Took delivery of this mattress from HappyBeds.
It's a very substantial, heavy and thick hybrid mattress of springs and memory foam - for a king size bed.
Very nice to sleep on, and worth the £300 spent on it via groupon.
    Gus.

    Hi GUS127

Im looking to purchase this mattress off groupon, please can you let me know how you have got on with yours? has it worn well? Would you recommend purchasing this mattress.

    Hi Pinkypants,

what do you think about Sleepeezee mattresses, please ?

    Thank you !
  • it not that Happy beds are the best, but comparing prices and quality they really offer value for money product. They don't have store so mattresses and beds produced by them cost much cheaper.

my grandma used to always say that if there is something expensive means the quality is bad as it is one of the manipulating actions in marketing

I have purchased orthopaedic mattress happybeds.co.uk/mattresses/orthopaedic/berrington-1200-pocket-sprung-orthopaedic-mattress-8784 and I jump on in every day :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I am looking to buy an all-natural single mattress (wool/coconut fibre etc; must not contain any chemicals or fire retardant) for my young daughter and Happy Beds have lower prices than anywhere else. I could hardly believe that what other companies charge the earthy for, Happy Beds charge a reasonable sum. Apparently as a new poster (I joined MSE just to make this post!) I am not allowed to paste links in but the mattress I'm interested in is "Happy Beds Mirage Natural Wool Mattress Organic Bamboo Fabric Bonnell Spring New" as listed on eBay for £118.

I have contacted the company to ask if the mattress really is all natural and they assured me that it is. I might have believed them completely but they also claimed that all their mattresses are made out of natural materials alone. Is this really true? I really need to know this as I cannot buy a mattress with added chemical fire retardant. Is it true?

Well as it has to stand up one of the strictest fire test for a mattress in the WORLD, then it's going to have some degree of fire retardant on it.

As for all natural fillings at that price forget it, no chance.

I ripped apart a mattress at work the other day that was meant to be mainly natural fillings to find around 98% Polyester fillings! Retail value of King mattress around £700.

Wish I knew how to post images.

Whatever the company tell you, they CANNOT sell a mattress that does not have added fire retardant. It is against the law.

The only way that it could be done is to make the mattress from things that are non-flammable or naturally fire retardant - to the relevant UK standards. Brick, steel, wire wool, etc, are all naturally fire retardant. Almost all of the stuff in a mattress is not.

Your only option is to construct your own mattress from raw materials. Or do what everyone else who is worried about chemicals does - buy a very good quality quilted pure cotton or cotton and wool mattress protector from John Lewis and put it over your mattress.
