It is so stressful. It's because of his exams that I have been doing a lot of it myself on ny own and I genuinely have had days when I would love nothing more than to sit in a heap and cry! Anyway, I think maybe we should just go ahead and accept the risk of the extra charge. At least if it doesn't happen I know it isn't because we didn't do all we could.First home purchased 09/08/2013

Well I would have used the previous thread but it rather got hijacked by two people having an arjy-barjy...
If you feel that the arjhi barji has made the the thread so unclean that you must start a new one, at least provide a link. Please. You might as well ask the Wizard of Oz to give you a big number as pay a Credit Referencing Agency for a so-called 'credit-score'0 -
The issues noted in previous threads are no longer relevant to be honest. One was about solar panels, one was about the solicitor being on holiday, both these issues no longer stand.
Apologies if I have broken some kind of cardinal rule of forum-posting. I am still fundamentally a 23 year old woman just looking for a bit of support and advice.First home purchased 09/08/2013

Keep calm, it sounds like things are happening - but just not quick enough for your liking, the completion date moving is normal - it's so easy for you to complete as a FTbuyer, however I can think of a hundred plausible reasons for the people in the chain, keep the communication open, chances are you've had mortgage survey on it etc, so more than £50 in...0

Unfortunately my boyfriend's next batch of chartered accountancy exams were always going to be some time in September, everyone was made aware of this. They are very important and this was never an issue because the vendor also wanted to complete in August. We were also very flexible in terms of we said we were prepared to wait for them to find the right property for them and wouldn't force them into rented accommodation, seeing as they were waiting for an offer on their house before they even began their house search.
Just curious how some exams would stop you completing?
I completed on my property whilst abroad, it was a couple of phone calls to the solicitor and i picked up the keys a few days later. Its generally not a big deal and wouldn't take much time0 -

It isn't the actual completing that is the problem, we have a fair amount of work to do on the house, the next set of exams coming up for OH are notoriously difficult and he has been clear from the off that in the month running up to the exam he doesn't want to jeopardise his studying by packing/moving/cleaning/putting furniture together. Seeing as his exams have such a big impact on his future earning potential and career, and it isn't me that has to take them, it is his call. If he isn't happy to move in this time, then I support him in that.First home purchased 09/08/2013

To be fair I have finally accepted to just sit back slightly and go with it, especially as none of it is in my control now. I don't mind if we don't complete until September. I just didn't know if it was worth risking an extra charge if our solicitor has basically said the chances of us achieving completion next week are slim to none. But I think it may be worth the risk, just in case.First home purchased 09/08/2013

Okay makes more sense now, however just because you have completed doesn't mean you need to pack/move/take on stress etc etc nothing wrong with completing on the new property and keeping your old one for a a month or so
You may find its generally less stressful keep an open mind about your completion date and if there is an opportunity to complete pre 16th Sept take it, if not you aren't any worse off
Also less risk with the rest of the chain - saying you cant/wont complete until after the 16th Sept risks someone else pulling out / mortgage offer expiring0
