Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 4 tariff
Comments
-
I have just changed to the Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 4 tariff for dual fuel, going through Quidco for a £35 cashback. This is estimated to save us £120 a year!
We were with Npower, and what made me angry and motivated to change is that you are unable to switch to the cheaper online Npower tariffs as an existing customer, whereas from entries in this thread, Scottish Power will allow you to change to a cheaper tariff (if you know about it and ask).
Thanks for the heads up, everybody!

I've just switched from Scottish Power to NPower, on the back of a comparison sites advice - I was angry that they hadn't dropped their prices as much as other companies. I haven't been contacted by Scottish Power, who I always found to have good customer care. NPower seem to be cheaper in London - I'll switch back if not!0

try either moneysupermarket for a comparison or www.ebico.co.uk same rates for all with ebico.0

scottish power have been forced to reduce their prices thanks to the people that have transferred away from them, scottish power didnt want to make the price cut tariffs available to all their customers, ( hence the continual diff tariffs launched) they have been forced to due to forums like this and to avoid large nos of their customers voting with their feet.0

SP are actually still £5 more expensive for my area on here

In fact if you include the Tesco points then Powergen are the cheapest as the £7.39 approx off puts them above BG
The £35 cashback at Quidco for joining SP is tempting though, but then there is £50 if you join Powergen as a newbie
Clear those cookies and register if you decide to join.Always read the small print as cashback is not guaranteed
Remember that on current rates Powergen are the cheapest in the Seeboard area.Monthly DD and both tariffs must be Energyonline Saver 2.Remember to factor into your sums the Tesco clubcard points and the £50 offered at Quidco.Clear your cookies.
I note that they still use a freephone number, whilst some of the others are
0845 but you can get hold of the Scottish Power freephone number.
Unsure if SP are cheaper in other areas.Maybe members can clarify0 -

Scottish Power Online 4 is definitely cheaper by a very long way against all other dual fuel providers for us (East Midlands) according to all the four switching sites I tested the situation with. I also tried putting in the figures for buying gas and electric from separate providers, but we were still predicted to be £30 better off with dual fuel from SP. Plus £35 from Quidco (which tracked almost straight away)
Maybe this is because Powergen is our 'default' electricity company in the East Midlands?? It does not seem fair to me that they charge you more if they are your 'local' provider

I am on SP online energy saver dual fuel (not sure which one switched in Feb 2007) Anyone no the difference in tariffs?0

The key for most of these providers is that it is more expensive to recruit a new customer than it is to offer you the better deal.
Definitely time to ring up & haggle!
And if you do change, always check out quidco etc.
I moved to SP earlier this year, saving about 100 quid a year, with 35 quid cashback, and now OLES 4 saves another 70 quid a year.0 -
I'm really impressed with scottish power, I've had no problems since I switched to them 2 years ago and every time I've had to phone them my call has always been answered quickly and the person I've spoken to has been helpful and friendly. So I phoned them up today and asked if they had a better tariff for me to go on. They took a few details and recommended the online PriceFall Dual Fuel plan, the rates are price capped until Nov 2008 but if the prices do fall in the mean time my rates will fall too, so best of both worlds
The advisor says I should save about £70 a year on my current plan, but she also said there is going to be another price drop on Friday so that should be a bit more over the year.
I'm happy that I get to stay with scottish power and should be a bit better off each year....if it hadn't been for this thread catching my eye I would never have thought to give them a ring so thanks everyone.0 -
It only took one email to change to this tariff and the change is from the day I sent the email, not their reply date!
That is another £70 a year saved thanks to MSE - until the next new tariff!
barncopxx - if you go with an online option for Scottish power you'll not have those issues I don't think. I do my meter readings online, generate bills / statements online and keep up to track with things very easily using their system.0
