Scottish Power Online Energy Saver 4 tariff

I haven't seen a new thread on the subject, so here we go...

As an existing Scot Power customer, I only just managed to switch to their PriceFall tariff in middle May which was the earliest date for existing customers.

Now I see they have launched yet another new tariff and the electricity is 25% cheaper than SP's PriceFall tariff. eg. 6.0p as opposed to around 8.0p for Seeboard region for units over 225kwh per quarter. Gas is a bit more expensive at 6% above their PriceFall tariff.

So, is it almost worth switching to the new tariff to enjoy cheaper electric then switch to back to different tariff come winter for cheaper gas?

I guess OES4 is to attract new customers thinking of switching supplier.

Update: Existing ScotPwr customers can be added to their list to be switched to the new OES4 tariff from the 28th June 2007.

Good to know. It looks like this one hasn't made it onto the comparison sites yet.

    Prices per region: http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/pricing_pdfs/ole/olesaver4.pdf

Shame it is only available to dual fuel customers.
  • Scottish Power is bringing out a lowest tariff, which existing customers will not automatically get unless they request it on - 0800 400 200 (free call). It comes out as top in the energy calculators and is called online energy saver 4. It starts on 15th June but you can go on the list for it now, and will save even more on your Scottish Power online bill. I pay about £70 a month for both fuels and this will reduce my bill by about £70 a year without switching my supplier. Happy saving

Hmmm, no disrespect intended Jan, but how can it come top of the fuel calulators when it hasnt been released yet?

I mean if it is cheaper than brilliant (Im with SP on dual fuel, Online Energy Saver 2), but the post sounds a little "sales-y" to me.

ANyone got a comparison? Im paying about £93 / month on DD and its keeping my account in credit.

I'm on Scot Pwr energy /saver 3 tariff and doing the maths on my usage it does work out about £70 cheaper on the dual fuel (I'm paying £130/month)

The new B/Gas click 3 is MORE expensive for me (I'm in Midlands area, supply code 14 - old NPower area)

I'm going to call SP and try to get switched over & get them to reduce my DD.

I`m on SP energy saver 3 and energy saver 4 works out more expensive for me. Energy saver 2 was cheaper than energy saver 3. I`ll be ringing today re going back to es 2. What a palaver

Scottish power Online energy saver 4 is included in the energyhelpline price comparison site (the one recomended by Martin).

What annoys me is that Scottish Power keep bringing out new tarrifs and don't offer them to existing customers when that tarrif is cheaper.

    Result!!

phoned today - switched to Online Energy Saver 4 - D/Debit reduced from £130 to £100.50 as thay didn't reduce my DD when I switched from Scottish Power 2010 price guarantee to online ES 3 (they told me to wait for it to "settle down" before they would reduce it).

I contacted them by email this morning and requested that I be moved from Online Energy Saver 2 to Online Energy Saver 4 - I've just had this reply - extremely quick service for a utility company I have to say!

"OLE Saver 4 will be applied to your account from the 06/06/2007.

I have passed your details to another department. They will apply the tariff at a later date. You will receive a letter of confirmation once your tariff is amended."

It seems they are backdating my account to have the new tariff from the
6th.... I thought it wasnt available until the 15th! Oh well...

I just phoned too and will be saving £33 and it will be back-dated as well

Ploughing throgh previous bills is just too much. It`s as though they`re deliberately making things too complicated so that consumers don`t bother changing
  • so is OLE Saver 4 cheaper than OLE Saver 2 then?
