Lamewolf I don't back anything up anymore - I just send all my important documents to myself as an email attachment.
If I did that I'd have twice as many emails as the 50-plus I had in my inbox today!! Everything, but everything is on spreadsheets - accounts (mine and Mr LW's as we keep our money separate), dog-sitting schedule, meal plans, cupboard and freezer inventories; nearly all our bills come electronically.... I'm going to stop listing it all now, I'm depressing myself!!:rotfl:

Sorry, I can't recommend a good phone service - our was ok, but is currently being bought out by $ky which I am not at all happy about.

Skint - how old is DD3? I've discovered that taking away things doesn't help me as my DD then gets bored and causes more trouble, boredom and not being able to amuse herself are triggers for her, so I have to make sure she has lots to do! Saves me lots of hassle if I arrange her time lol

    Helen

She is 13, she has to have consequences of some kind even if it ends up creating more work for me. Unfortunately when she was young the EX MiL had her while I worked all the hours under the sun (and quite a few hours under the moon aswell). EXMiL didn't believe in telling off or sanctions and let them all get away with blue murder, so when actions have no consequence she pushes further and further and further.

She likes heavy rock music channels, and she is having withdrawal symptoms.

TV license has to be reinstated as the EX has hit the roof over my discipline tactics on this one (well EXMiL is complaining poor little darling can't have her TV taken away :mad::mad:)

But I am not in a rush to do it.....this punishment needs to stick for a full 24 hours, otherwise she will just keep playing us off against each other by complaining to the EX or EXMiL every time I do anything that she doesn't like.

Anyhow....quick 5 mins with Fred and I will report what I have done ;)

Of course - you are excused PE. Now get a book and read:D

    Thinking of Dusty et al.

Taken DD and DD's friend to Y not festival - 38 minute drive took about an -hour-and-a-half because we got lost (no change there) ended up on a single track road *puzzled* but met a man in a car coming the other way and once he had backed into the passing place and I had sidled up to him turned out we COULD get that way. Anyway I have driven through Cromford, Matlock, Matlock Bath and Rowsley today (stopped at Peak Village for a 'comfort break'. And various other pretty places.

    Sheets on line

Indian for tea but will be Hm, with a bottle of korma sauce on offer at Morries.

my sister got lost dropping her SD and some mates there yesterday - and then had to find her way to my mums. Sat nav wasn't working (cue comments about taking a map with you... and knowing how to read it!)

  • Honeybear A long time ago, in a Galaxy far far away before they become Wirgin, Skinty knew lots and lots about this kind of thing, there are protocols in place for this kind of thing.

Nuisance and Malicious call process was and probably still is complex, although you are with Wirgin, there is no guarantee the person who was deep-breathing down the line is. So they have to liaise with the other person's telephone service provider. That requires a Crime Reference Number from the Police in order for cross-provider checks to be made.

Even if they are with Wirgin a Crime Reference Number is still required as if call monitoring is deemed necessary (for example if the person is threatening violence) it needs to be carefully recorded. For Data Protection reasons they won't confirm or deny if the number calling you is one of their customers.

In my day, the most effective thing was to record the incident, supply Anonymous Caller Rejection free of charge for 30 days at the Customer Service Rep's discretion......most nuisance callers give up once they hear this and don't bother to try their luck again after 1 month.

This alleviated the need for the person to report to the Police and gave them peace of mind.

Another service which was useful if customer had a mobile was Incoming Call Barring operated with a PIN. lf nuisance calls were coming through in the middle of the night, the customer could set incoming call barring before going to bed, family could be told to ring the mobile in emergency in the night if necessary, and the call barring lifted in the morning with the Pin.

Once again it was Customer Service Rep's discretion to apply free of charge for 30 days, as most people give up relatively .

Nuisance calls are a breach of the Telecommunications Act, and providers have a duty to handle such calls sympathetically.

Whoever you are with if you feel your call is not being handled sympathetically or the person you are talking to is not interested or you feel they don't know what they are doing.....ESCALATE ESCALATE ESCALATE to a Manager.

I know in your case the person who rang did leave their number behind and it was completely innocent, but people making nuisance calls do not wish to be caught and rely on fear and CBA for people not to report to the Police.

HTH you and anyone else suffering with nuisance calls

And the longer you do as you are told the long DD will use this tactic.. tell them to pee off and it is your house your rules and if they don't like it.. tough!

You are setting boundaries to keep your daughter in line that is what responsible parents do.. don't you dare be undermined by them!

I won't tell you how blue the air would be if KH tried telling me what sanctions I could enforce in my own home!!

I'm back on with knitting DD1's jumper for Christmas.. I am doing a red aran one for Spam next.. then I'll have to do Fabian one. :D

Thanks Skint. This link is the current advice from the police.

    https://www.askthe.police.uk/content/Q275.htm

I was asking the wirgin mob to save the recording on my 1571 and they could not have been less helpful.

[rant] Since the helpdesk was outsourced I have not had a single problem solved by them and I'm just tired of being fed absolute rubbish down the line when I phone them. Having esculated the issue as per your advice some time ago, the total lack of anything resembling support had me gibbering with rage to the point where I just had to end the call. The last three occasions I needed their help have all been equally frustrating and I now think it's part of their remit to obfuscate rather than resolve. [\rant]

Lamewolf Seriously? 50 a day?
    Better is good enough.

TV license is now back on officially, but I am not telling DD3 until EX comes to visit tomorrow...this has to stick so she remembers it in the future.

His concern is she would put it on TV and saddle me with a £1000 fine which I would then not be able to pay and want to tap him up for the money.

I remember back in the 70's in the times of the Strikes DoM and DoD were seriously seriously Skint as DoD had been laid off for about 12 weeks and had to cancel the TV license and DoD took the plugs off both the TV's (we were lucky enough to actually have 2 at that time). I was just told the TV wouldn't work. DoD had forgotten that I had paid close attention how to wire a plug........with a table knife and a spare plug from the understairs cupboard, I thought I would help fix the TV......I was just plugging in my freshly wired TV when my DoD came in my room and hit the roof.

Luckily for me, I had wired the plug correctly, but the thought of saddling them with a fine when money was already non existent made me realise we can't always have the things we want.

On the lighterside, DD2 has just put facepaint on DD4 she currently is rocking the V for Vendetta look...every little expression looks even more pronounced with big black eyebrows :rotfl: 5 minutes and I will wash it off
