Thrifty.. I've been on crutches from about 18 weeks.. I am so incredibly sick of being unable to do anything and not being able to do anything with the children or go anywhere.. I can't even go to the corner shop on my own, I've absolutely had enough.. this is the 3rd summer holiday I've been incapable of doing anything out of the last 4 and I feel like crap about it.

What is it with receptionists? Why can they not simply cancel unwanted appointments? Why do they feel the need to snoot about it.. I'm not coming.. cancel it.. I don't need to explain myself to you!! GGGRrrrrr...

I'm going to find something to wear, I am way too hot in my dressing gown and I might just sweep and mop the kitchen.. everyone still snoring in their pits, tiddlers included! So I will take advantage of them not being in my way.. anyone care to join me for a spot of sweeping, mopping and unit scrubbing???

If I'm going to be in pain so much it is making me cry I may as well go with it and get the house in a vague state of respectable!

    Morning All

So far I have washing on the line and another finished load in the WM, DD has been dropped off at Summer school and that's about it. DD is bringing a friend back with her afterwards and I have got Beavers tonight so I'll see what I can get done in the meantime. The aim is to try and get as much of downstairs sorted as I can this week and then concentrate on upstairs next week.

Flinging and Flying in the family room - living room

remove anything that belongs elsewhere to be rehomed
wipe switches, sockets and sticky door marks
vacuum properly - move that furniture if you safely can
lift sofa and chair cushions and vacuum under them
as above plus complete dusting - don't forget the skirting boards!
    Clean the windows
It's almost August so check your diary and see what birthday (etc) cards you might need for the month. Add them, and stamps if you need them, to your shopping list

Flinging and Flying in the heart of the home - Kitchen Klean-up

remove anything that belongs elsewhere to be rehomed
    wipe over the worktops
quick run round with Henry or Hetty or whatever's on suction duty; or sweep and or/mop as appropriate
wipe switches, sockets and sticky door marks
wipe all the cupboard doors and drawers - don't forget the handles
wipe the microwave outside - put half a lemon, or some lemon juice in water inside, let it run for two minutes then leave the steam to soften gunk, wipe it out
make sure every horizontal surface has had a wipe
    wipe the washer door seal
    Clean the windows

Beautiful bathing will be yours - bathrooms and cloakrooms

remove anything that belongs elsewhere to be rehomed
flush the loo and scrub it
wipe the outside of the loo with a cloth
    clean the bath
run the curtain through the hottest wash it can stand and peg it on the line for a blow
clean the loo roll holder - remember people might have 'less than clean' hands when they're wrestling with the paper...:o
wipe the shower rail; wash the shower curtain rings
wipe or dust all high horizontal surfaces - door tops and screens
    clean the basin
    Clean the windows
    Mop the floor
chrome shower rails can be polished when they're off
    Put out fluffy towels

Valet the vestibule and make an entrance - hall, stairs, landing and any other entrance features -

get a cloth or a duster and wipe or wash the woodwork
remove anything that belongs elsewhere to be rehomed
    sweep and mop hard floors
    vacuum carpet
get a cloth, and some hot water and wash down the door
    shift boots and shoes
    clean any glass
get the mats outside, think of your mother in law and wack them against a wall to dislodge the dirt
wipe or dust all high horizontal surfaces - door tops and screens
    clean the light fittings
find a long duster and clean the radiators

Find all the gloves, hats and scarves. Sort, throw and wash as appropriate - outgrown ones can go to shoebox collections but do please wash them first

    Morning all

washing on line, DW emptied, pot for datura prepped as mum is coming to help me pot it (and bringing compost;)
datura checked for caterpillars - none found.

    A little fairy story
Piggers 'Good morning, I would like to cancel my appointment for the 2nd, please'
Receptionist 'Good morning - could I have your name please?'
    Piggers 'Piggers'
Receptionist 'OK, I've cancelled that. Would you like to make an appointment for a diferent day?'
    Pigger 'Not at the moment'
receptionist 'That's done for you, then. Thankyou for letting us know. Bye!'

Looks like poo seiving for you then. And do you SERIOUSLY expect me to believe you have only got ONE duster? Naughty Flylady. I *glow* have lots. And they are ironed! I have TWO microfibre dusters, a glove one and one onna-stick AND a radiator cleaning brush. This is NOT good enough! *cue stern schoolteacher look*

Valli.. if only it was so simple.. I got 'has the consultant told you to cancel it?' (I didn't realise I had to check my every move with him.. oops!) .. 'Why do you want to cancel it?' (I'm not coming and thought you might like to give it to someone else, being busy and all... if not just leave it as is and I'm still not coming!) .. 'Would you like us to rebook?' (no thank you) ... 'Why do you not want the appointment?' (head thinks.. because I won't be bribed like a child/it isn't needed/I don't want it/It is a waste of time/I will cause far more pain than I am willing to inflict on myself.. says the person about to sweep the kitchen lol... mouth says 'because I'm not coming'.. I think that is fairly clear by this point) The letter indicates there is an appointment with the consultant a bit later but I have no confirmation or details of that just 'an appointment shortly after' which means at some point in the following week to me.. so I cannot cancel that if there even is one because I know nothing at all about it. they can't even ring to moan at me because that would mean reading notes as I've refused to give them a phone number :p.. best part is my hand held notes have been turned into confetti by a toddler with a pair of scissors.. OH left the bedroom door open so they invaded my bedside drawer lol.. good job my scan pics weren't in there too, I might have been upset about that.

    Anyway.. kitchen...

I hate mopping in my bare feet, but not a single pair of shoes or slippers fit me my trotters are so swollen.

Modom Valli.. I am the proud NON-owner of a single duster... I've not dusted with a duster in about 20 years!!!

Poor Piggers, Is this going to be your last then?

I cannot find the old curtains, I think I may have put them in the loft so I'm going to put the old ones up until I can persuade DH to go in the loft and hunt for me. ETA he has just pulled a face so looks like I'll be buying new material!
Have phoned Grandma and she is happy with kids so no rush, so I'm letting this creaky body slowly warm up. My knees, hands, arms and shoulders are all aching badly from this bloody decorating lark!
ETA my DH has got to go to his bosses house for a meeting which is in the same village as Grandma so I can save some time and fuel:money: I'm going to slowly finish and tidy only for the kids to come home and wreck it:rotfl:

So what do you dust with then Piggers? I often use the soft brush on the hoover.
Valli are you the lady that used to match the colour of clothes pegs when you pegged out or am I thinking of someone else?

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Photogenic I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning all.

Busy day here. Its paid stuff for me, I have a Mr A delivery coming between 5-7pm (although they've been known to turn up early if they're not busy), and DD needs to pack for going away tomorrow. I need to get my bag ready for the train trip, I'm trying to avoid doing anything before we leave tomorrow except drinking coffee :rotfl:

    Personal:
Work: Pay bill, returns, orders & submit
    DD - write cards
    DD - Pack (2 nights/2 days & spare!)
Charge actual phones / mp3 / spare phone (has games on it to play & music) as they're all low/out of battery
'packed lunch' (loosest meaning...thing cookies, sweets, sandwich, bottled water, fruit doesn't travel well when you're getting 3 different and often packed trains)
    Bath
    Mr A delivery (5-7pm)
    Clear ironing pile
WM - Dark, light, bedding, bedding, towels

    Living room
    30 minutes? as above plus-
    • wipe switches, sockets and sticky door marks
    • vacuum properly - move that furniture if you safely can
    • lift sofa and chair cushions and vacuum under them

    • as above plus complete dusting - don't forget the skirting boards! - need to wet wipe the skirting board and dust the TV unit which is why this is still here!
    • Clean the windows
    EXTRA SPECIAL
    • Sort out cards for November and December - we're sorted until the end of September, then nothing until November when we have twins, ex's sister, and my dad. At least they're the ones I'm responsible for organising ;) Going to leave them until closer to the time so I can also add some Christmas cards into the mix ;)
    Kitchen Klean-up
    15 minutes?

    • mop
    30 minutes? as above plus-
    • wipe the microwave [STRIKE]outside [/STRIKE]- put half a lemon, or some lemon juice in water inside, let it run for two minutes then leave the steam to soften gunk, wipe it out

    • make sure your TD filter is lint-free - DD's job - she loves doing this :rotfl:
    EXTRAS
    • Empty out ONE cupboard or drawer, wipe it out and put back only what is STILL useful once it's dry
And finally - don't forget your frog list - EAT A WHOLE FROG today!

If you're a boot wearer in winter get the heels and soles checked now - and take them to be repaired/heeled or soled if necessary. If not, give them a polish and make sure they're ready for when the winter weather hits!

Remember to keep eating froggies...yum yum

WM is currently on a clean cycle as I've just washed all the cleaning cloths. They're now in the TD as its quicker than pegging them out and we can't do any cleaning until they're dry.

DD is currently doing an Av0n order of her own so I'm dreading what that's going to come to. She's getting very excited at the Halloween stuff :rotfl: I think she may have spent her wages for last month about 5 times over

    Time for paid stuff
