Last year, aged 27. 3 bed (ex-LA) flat in SW London Zone 2. 25% deposit.
It took a lot of hard work saving, living in tiny rooms in flatshares and scrimping and saving but it was worth every penny.0 -

25 years old, 2010, £142,500 (new build of £150,000 with 5% gifted deposit - I could probably have haggled more). 25% deposit. Paid off when 28 years old, 2013. All from my own funds with no financial assistance from anyone - I've been quite fortunate with my career opportunities, but I've also had no life to speak of during this period.0

I was 18 and bought a one bed flat in the city centre for £42K (I think it was) in 2003, rather than go into private halls for my 2nd year of uni. £9k deposit. It is now worth £100k. Bit of help from the Bank of Mum and Dad and I had been working since I was 14 and not spending any of my wages. Looking to get it paid off and be mortgage free by the end of this year0

I bought my first flat in 1993 for 41K in East London (Walthamstow)! I was then 30 and only earning 14K . If I had left it until now, I just couldn't have bought anywhere. I am earning more than 14K but not enough to even get a studio flat. However I sold my old flat in 2006 and now have a terraced house in the same area.0
