22, bought with boyfriend who was 23, cost £125k,
95% mortgage,
we sold it 5 years later for £205k when we split up.
Don't know if I'll ever buy again.0 -
aged 21 paid £79,950 - whacked down a 20% deposit - this was in 1998 - now MF
House worth around £220,000 ish in cambridgeshire:j1/6/12 - I am mortgage free:j0 -
Bought our first house for £215k in 2007 a 2-bed flat in the South East - both aged 23.
Bought our second house a 3-bed terrace in a(n expensive) northern City (near the centre) in 2011 for £248k aged 26 & 27.
Now aged 28 & 29 and just bought our third house - a 4-bed semi new build for £310k. Hopefully this one will be for the next 20 years or so - if not longer!
Couldn't and haven't sold our first flat which is now our B2L until our fixed mortgage runs out, be lucky to avoid a loss even in 6 years of owning. Second property we managed to bag a massive £30k profit in just 2 years of owning, very helpful in keeping our LTV down on the new one and hopefully we'll settle here for the indefinite future and can work on paying this one off and building up pensions/savings.
Sick of moving and hate the process of buying and selling!Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
This is going to be depressing!!
Bought when I was 20, in 1998 - 3 bed semi (new build) in Gtr Manchester - £49,950 - 95% Mortgage, 5% deposit paid by builder.
Sold in 2004 for £90k when we split up.
Just bought 3 bed terrace for £93k - (I'm now 37) we had to stump up 15% deposit.
We are both reasonably well paid and our mortgage over 20 years will be teeny tiny but we'd rather have a comfy home that we can extend/renovate and still have nice holidays and savings than a big mortgage noose around our necks.0
