Ooh Jolly I love Snowdonia too. OH lives there during the week. Every now and again I go down for the weekend and we do some hill walking. The scenery is fantastic!Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Not so cold out tonight when i ran home from work. Last night it was -6 and i swear my hair was icing up. Tonight it was around zero and came back along the car route rather than cutting across the top of the science park where i work. Was intending to do a proper run but couldn't be bothered lugging extra stuff to work.Debt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)

Mon5/1 Rest Day
Tues6/1 3 x 1 Mile (6:29, 6:16, 6:18) (Average 6:21) (Pulse 126)
Weds7/1 10 Miles 1:22:20 (Pulse 94) (8:14/mile)
Morning everyone.:D
What a difference this morning, perfect running conditions with it being mild and still. Very pleasant indeed, at least until the last mile when it just started snowing!
I'm quickly becoming a fan of this 6am running lark.:D
Anyway, 1:22:20 for this tough 10 miler is very encouraging on such a low pulse of 94 (previous best for this course 1:28:49 on a 108 pulse).
Happy running one and all!:DGt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Rich you seem a little mad to be out and about at that time it was still pitch black here, and as there is no street lights and it being icy i didnt fancy a fall in the dark.
You should try the bleep test its hurendous, running 20 metre to a bleep on a cd. starts off fine about 9 seconds for the first shuttle, then getting faster and faster every minute, it drops to about 5 seconds a shuttle by the time it gets to level 10 which is my aim. it goes up to level 22 but i dont think anyone has ever completed it, but i could be wrong.Running Club5KM - 25:20(51.21%) 10KM - 53:40(50.26%)1/2 Marathon - 2.14.57(44.20%)Marathon 5:11:00 (40.78%)0 -
Lol have always pondered whether or not to do a bleep test. I gather is used my the police etc in assessing fitnes levels in new applicants. Wont be doing it anytime soon as the witching of direction would be a bad idea as it could aggrevate my hip strain. I'm sure there is a website somewhere listing all the times for each level.Debt free Nerd number 1122 LBM Jan 2009 Debt @ LBM £40,086.88 (14/01/09)

Hi All,
I agree Rich, running on slippery paths seems much safer than walking, I have only ever slipped when walking.
I also took your advice from my last posting and have been increasing my distance, today I knocked out 6.5K in 37 minutes. I was extremely happy, unintentionally my speed was even better too.
I got myself a HRM and have been using it, I ran today at 92% of my MHR (which is set to a default of 180) basically at 172 BPM, is that good or bad? (Male/ 5'11" / 96kilos)
Cheers and congrats to all who are battling the snow today!!!Debts:

Just did a quick bit of research
David Beckham could (can?) do it apparently, as could (can?) Lance Armstrong...Not many people can, though...
And I read that the U18s record was to complete the test then run a further 16k...0 -
Chickadee, the time between making each beep / line gets shorter, therefore increasing the pace.
9.04 isnt bad for an attempt, have been worse in the past. I can say that the running has helped, just really need to step up the speed of the long runs, which in return will improve the test.
In short, the longer & faster i can run, the better the test wil be.
In the past, ive achieved level 13, so it can be done. Its just that practically level 10+, your into a spint between the lines, where your legs start to ache.0 -
