One day I will vary it and run it anticlockwise, instead of clockwise.......but I'm not sure I'm ready for that much excitement yet :rotfl:

I did that once and I was amazed at how different it felt. It helps to break up the monotony though.

Just been out with my ladies running group. We have a group of half-marathon & marathon trainers getting together to do long runs together. It helps with support, company and I always find I can get up early easier if I am meeting people rather than if I am running alone. We had coffee & flapjack afterwards and had a chat about training plans and avoiding injuries.

The route today was fairly hilly, 40 minutes out & back so 1h 20m in total. We covered just under 8 miles which I am happy with.

Just off to pack for my night away in Halifax. Ooh what a wild & crazy life I lead ;) . Looking forward to the race on Sunday.

Hypno - Good luck for your 10-miler on Sunday

Alias - Hope you're soon feeling better and good luck with the dreaded beep test on Tuesday.

chickadee - that sounds like a fab group to go out with on a Saturday - especially liking the coffee and flapjack incentive......if only I lived closer!

Good luck to you, OH and Rich for your run tomorrow.

Alias - sorry you've not been feeling well, I hope you soon feel fighting fit. Good luck with the bleep test.

've had a run-free day today, but will head out early tomorrow - I have tickets for seefilmfirst at 11am so need to get out early so that I am showered and ready for the film without rushing. the children do a Sunday paper round, so I am hoping to get out at the same time as them.......that is going to be an achievement in itself.

I had a little "ponder" today - I am 40 next year, and the New York Marathon is the same week as my birthday......I will also be debt free about 6 months before then.......can you see where this is heading :rotfl:

    Week18
    Mon29/12 Rest Day
    Tues30/12 3 x 1mile (6:28, 6:26, 6:21) (Avge 6:25) (Pulse 128)
    Weds31/12 10K 47:05 (Pulse 122) (7:35/mile) (Pennine 10K Course)
    Thurs1/1 14.0 Miles 2:00:36 (Pulse 104) (8:37/mile)
    Fri2/1 10K 53:10 (Pulse 90) (8:35/mile)
    Sat3/1 10K 52:09 (Pulse 82) (8:25/mile)

    Good day everyone!:D

Should have been doing the 5K race at 9am today, but woke up at precisely 08:57am. Whoops!:o . With no access to a Dr Who time machine I was a bit pickled on that one.

Anyway, must have needed the sleep and with a good interval session and the Pennine 10K in the morning, missing the 5K is no big deal really.

Just completed a very gentle 10K to conserve some energy for tomorrow but, even though it was supposed to be really easy, the pulse of 82 was still pretty surprising - I checked 3 times so it was correct though!:D

Hypno - Best of luck tomorrow, just switch off and run as slowly as your body is comfortable with! I'm going to have a wild guess at your riddle - is it heading to New york, perchance?

Chickadee - That sounds like a nice run with a few undulations. Try not to get too tired during your night away activities!;)

oops rich, but as you say, the rest will have done you good, and you still managed to get a run in, so your top 5 for the 5k will just have to wait another week!

Hehe I think it will have to wait quite a few more weeks for a Top 5. Even by knocking a few seconds off the best time so far it would only have just sneaked inside the Top 20 this morning, now that everyone is back after xmas!

    But one day......:D

Rich, you must have needed the rest. You are usually the one telling us to listen to our bodies! I'm sure your intervals and the 10k will more than make up for your missed race today. The run this morning was lovely, and not too quick (although it will be first in my list of excuses if I have a bad run in the morning ;) ). Unfortunately OH (Jonathan) has returned from a run today having had to walk the last mile because of a tight calf muscle. He had a problem with it a year or so ago - his physio said he had a 'shabby' calf muscle; not sure if this is a technical term :p . Unless it eases off he will be watching tomorrow. There is something of a transfer going on in our house at the moment. As I speed up, he slows down. I'm sure it will self-correct soon :D .

Exactly Chickadee, I never argue if the body wants to rest or wants some more food, or wants to watch TV or whatever....it knows what its doing!:D :D:D

Sorry to hear about Jonathan's woes. I share your scepticism whether a 'shabby calf muscle' is a technical term, but it sounds a bit annoying all the same.

I like that 'transfer' of speed arrangement you've got going on, very sharing!:p

You wont need any excuses, but as you say its always best to have them lined up in advance...just in case! My likely front runner excuse at the moment is that I slept in and therefore had to rush to the start and didn't manage to do any warming up!:p
