Thanks for that Rich, although I think there is a flaw in their study. As a chocolate addict once I have reached 3 days without chocolate I loose the cravings dramatically so walking or no walking wouldn't make much difference. They should have done the study without the 3 days abstinence first and seen what effect the exercise had then.

BTW today is day 3 of no chocolate or rubbish food for me so keep me on the straight and narrow please...
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

It is interesting that it takes a study to come to this conclusion as well - surely its a case of stating the bleeding obvious.

Walking trains the body to utilise stored fat as a fuel source, therefore dramatically reducing the need for calories from elsewhere.

Roughly speaking,my average calorie intake over the last 8 weeks, while covering 50 miles per week, has been in the range 600-1000, clearly way below the daily requirement. But as I'm getting everything I need, and eat whenever I want to, the rest of the fuel is quite readily supplied by stored fat.

Any relatively low level activity will have the same effect.

I was trying to see if anyone was surprised by their conclusion.

Just ease back into it now - with the insoles you should limit any further pounding, so even while training the recovery should be able to continue to strengthen the knee.

Although I will say Appetite is an elsevier journal anyway...so its a case of publishing research for the sake of making money rather than because it does anything interesting!

1.9 Impact Factor though isnt bad - but interestingly it doesnt say which categories...hmmmmmmmm

Sorry I came over all workish then ;) and its my week off!

Did my four miles htis morning - same route as yesterday and managed to take two mins off to 38 mins - which I'm impressed by since my legs were tired today on the last bit of hill! At least I know I can do proper hill running now :)

Um speaking of Leeds - they actually recommended Headingly(sp?) as nicer - the town centre is full of chavs apparently! Especially on a weekend...nope they dont do bellinis in spoons but they do do great cheap food :)

Sorry Idio - I dont get what you were trying to say - I've runners high please intrepret for me?? :(
