i've always done the basic hamstring stretches before a run, and a full set afterwards.

My running club advocate "dynamic stretching" which they say is walking to warm up and moving arms, purposely walking on heels and toes to stretch lower leg muscles... i'm not sure how i feel about it but it does seem to work....

i luuuurve the full stretch afterwards, it's like a reward for good behaviour!!

Running club tonight, shedule is this......... i reckon it'll cover 3 miles...

Week 7 of the 10 week 'Intermediate - Level One' programme.
    talk / advice
    5 mins walk & mobility warm-up
    10 mins jog
    3 mins walk
    25 mins jog
    5 mins walk, cool-down, stretch & feedback
I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....

    Hi Poorbabe,

Hope the lunch run goes well! 80 mins is a good time for 7 miles!!

Which marathon are you doing in Dec? Sorry you may have said but I missed it...

I get a sniffle as well when running but not afterwards, maybe some of the other asthama sufferers have some tips for you.

Hiya Becky. I tried to do the 7 miles in 80ms, but it took about 1/2 mile for the flaming GPS on my Garmin to set up:mad: so I actually did 6.02 miles in 55:45. I'd set it to do 6 miles in 65 mins and jogged, as a cool down, for the final 1/2 mile.

Overall, even though I'm making progress I still start off too fast and slow down towards the end. I managed to do a few stretches in the shower cubicle - had to laugh as it's not somewhere I'd think of doing stretches :D

Oh well, hills tomorrow night

I've just been out for a gentle 10K minding my own business when, with about a mile to go, I suffered an incident that has never happened to me before in 40,000 previous training miles.

As my running path crossed the flight path of some fiendish bird it decided to aim its cross-hairs right at the bridge of my nose. The bomb was released and as it hit its target it became immediately apparent it was a liquid purple one! Oh yes, one of those!

It became a double whammy. Before I had registered the initial hit, the splat effect had bounced into my left eye causing an almighty stinging sensation and forcing me to a halt.

The miscreant didn't hang around to face the music. I have been the victim of a hit and run!

Now how do I claim compensation and where from? :p

    Afternoon all
Feeling rather great :) Seriously going to sit down later and sort my life out ;) Anyway have been out for a lovely pub lunch with My Mum and Nan 4 generations of Girls and feeling rather stuffed, was good and had the healthy Vegetable lasagne (albeit covered in cheese :))

I might have to pop out and calibrate my Nike + later (only 1 mile) if my legs will take it!

Maz hope your run goes well tonight, will be waiting for your progress report!
I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Well I must say this was not the first query I was expecting in my capacity as legal adviser...

From a bird's eye view of the situation I would say that you would struggle to identify the rogue in a line up and therefore you have no case. Of course you could always lure him into a repeat performance (not that entrapment is allowed you understand so be subtle). Get his reg number.

THis reminds me of a joke: "What do you do if a bird cr**s on your car? Don't take her out again!" Boom Boom :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

What if I randomly pick one of the line-up birds and just wing it? :p

I wouldn't recommend it though, someone is bound to stick their beak in and alert the authorities.
