Jinky, I would have said the same a fortnight ago! And I can't say it was an entirely painless experience, the first and last 5 minutes were both a bit grim, but I loved it, apart from the rather dodgy looking bloke about two thirds of the way round who decided to 'encourage' me by shouting 'go on lass.....fwoarrr look at the t*ts on that' :o in the most lecherous way possible....but he was about 3 times the size of me, so I felt fairly confident I could outrun him if necessary! :rotfl:

Does anyone else find that when you can see the end in sight, it seems to get harder rather than easier? You'd think that being able to see your goal would make you want to push on, but I really struggled today.

No I just have more faith in you than you have in yourself. i have seen all sorts of people go from a standing start to becoming decent runners. You only need the motivation to stick at it. Receiving encouragement from others will help, particularly if you can find others to run with. Finding a realistic training plan that works for you and having a look at nutrition would also be good. Apart from that there isnt too much to it. Above all have fun

I don't understand why when you are running the people you meet seem unable to prevent themselves from offering you 'encouragement' as you run by. 'Knees up, knees up' is the usual. Hoots from car horns, plus the usual yobbish yells. (Sadly, being of a rather [strike]flat-chested[/strike] 'athletic' build I don't get too may of the 'Fwoarr look at the t*ts on that' shouts, but I live in hope....)

As for it getting more difficult when the end is in sight, don't forget that that could just be because your legs are tired?
