Nice to see you picked up on the clues there Rich. At least I can use baby brain as an excuse.
I tried running with Bean on board but knees/hips were really sore - apparently ligaments go soft or summat? Anyway I'm trying to walk as much as possible and swim occasionally so hopefully will maintain some sort of fitness levels. All being well hoping to run within a week of giving birth although not sure how realistic that is never having done it before...

I generally walk 2 miles a day minimum and 4 - 5 miles a few days a week, just depends where i need to go and what im doing
Will check out that website - thanks
In that case you are not as unfit as you might think!
Bear in mind that when you run three times your body weight goes through your knees as oppose to one times when walking so it really is worth getting the foundation of walking in first to strengthen everything up.
Could you do 12-15 miles per week for 2 weeks for instance at a strong pace?Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Cheerleader and Mascot - you can have dual positions. How about that?
Pomm pomms and ra-ra skirt will be required though - we need this doing properly.

I guess thats roughly how far I will walk in a week anyways. Have just route planned a figure of 8 around my local park (that site is so so cool). Just short of 1 mile. Oh its getting exciting :rotfl:0 -

OK MissEmmyLou,
If you've been doing that sort of walking distance for a while then you are OK to start running, or rather jogging.
So take that 1 mile and set off really slowly at a pace that will feel like walking pace. It won't be, it will be quicker, but it should feel very slow. By keeping it slow you won't be overstretching anything which is a big danger when going into a new activity.
Just keep it going for as long as it feels comfortable. Once it starts to feel uneasy stop and walk the rest. Don't start jogging again because your muscles will contract tightly.
Then we need to see how your muscles react. They should be sore on day 1 and more so on day 2. So the earliest you will have another go at it will be 3 days later. But come back and describe how the muscles are feeling and we'll take it from there!
Good luck.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Hey all, blimey two more pages since I left work! Have done 2.5 miles tonight, pretty much non-stop run (or at least something resembling a run), only walked when I had to cross roads, started at a really slow jog which made the initial hill a bit easier. Took me 30 mins which I'm pretty pleased with. Feet a bit sore though, I think I need some sorbothane things to match everyone else!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Sally - have you checked under unlisted runners for your picture...? they generally have a section where the runnners numbers are obscured.... you might be in there... even if you had your hands over the number, or were partially turned away from camera or whatever.... worth checking....
is it marathon photos??? i can only see about 5 pictures?
There must be more to come, or am i on the wrong site??I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

Perfect building block so well done. Completely the right approach.
Can you give Maz some tips on how to spell Sorbothane (the poor girl does seem to struggle).

Interesting to see the Thread Viewings has just gone through 40,000. It was only last week that the 30,000 figure was passed.
