i think i will be able to squeeze a run in this afternoon chaps......
i am leaving work before 4pm as have a GP appointment, which will get me home by 445pm... and Brownies is at 6pm, 2 miles away. Erin can cycle up and i can run with her, then i can make my own way home return 2 miles... running or walking, whatever... it will give me a good start to the week... then at 730pm, i can drive up with jeep to collect her and her bike.... sound like a plan?!?I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

PS What mileage have you been doing in the build up for the half Sally?
**** blushes with embarrassment**** Well I had good intentions of sticking to a training plan but didn't quite go to plan. I guess most weeks I was doing 5 miles twice a week then 1 slightly longer run. (walking 2 miles 3 times a week too) Although I missed a few weeks then did a 10 miler and a couple of 3 mile runs. To be honest I was rubbish if I look back at it and not suprising that I have stiff legs. On average I guess I was only doing 10-15 miles I supposeI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Sounds like a great plan and I bet you could do the whole 4 miles if you are determined!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

**YOU*** have inspired me big style... so don't go belittling your performance! and as for under preparing, well remember you have little B to look after, and as i always say, it ain't easy fitting it all in!!I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

Well, the less training you did the better the achievement was.
In terms of a marathon, the bottom line is that you could do one now (well maybe not this very minute, but in a couple of weeks) on the basis of running 13 and walking 13. It would be hard graft though and I'm not sure how much enjoyment you would get from it.
So, its a case of working up from there. The more training of the right type the better.
I wish I could say 30 mpw and it will be a breeze but a marathon is no fun run. It only becomes fun when you feel prepared and ready for whatever it can throw at you. But then again I'm a wimp and don't like pain!
On the basis of what you've said about your Bristol training you're probably made of sterner stuff than me so may get away with less training.Gt NW 1/2 Marathon 21/2/2010 (Target=1:22:59) (6:20/mile) 1:22:47 (6:19):j:j

Right I want to see you back on here later with your achievements. If you have a break in between make sure you do some stretches to keep yourself supple and don't let yourself get cold.
Yes It is hard Maz trying to fit everything in around a child.. Housewife, mother, student, work, jack of all trades master of none that is me!
Have decided though that now its dark in the mornings I won't be able to go so am going to use my study mornings (wed and fri 2. 3/4 hours) to run and my evening to do study (when its dark and miserable) So based on that I should theoretically be able to do 3 good runs a week and maybe a swim or 2 plus walking/cycling to work 3/4 times a weekI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....
