  • morning all....... just checking in to say that i was up and out by 9am today and did another 2 miles with runchum rachel.... no stops, felt pretty easy actually. I tried to push for a change of direction to extend it as we were feeling good... however she was pushed for time as going to church, so we stuck to 2 miles.... any excuse!

Showered had some brekkie and now going out to see Mamma Mia at pics with erin and my mum.... nice sunday afternoon!

Hey chris! glad you're back into the swing of things..

  • Good for you Chris, glad you enjoyed it. And well done Maz! I wonder how Sally and Bigbeff have got on today?!

I'm just back from 2 miles as well, really hard going to start with - the first half mile I found the breathing really difficult and had a bit of heartburn, but then I got into it and managed to run most of the rest with only a couple of very brief walks. Felt like I could have gone a bit further but didn't want to push it. Sensibly checked the exact time when I left but then forgot when I got in, but I think it was about 25 mins!

Quick tot up - I've done a total of 6 miles running and about 9-10 walking this week.

    Hello All,

I'm sure I've missed a bit in my absence...oooo I wonder how Sally got on today?

Anyway just to say Rich - I love you, did your suggestion of adding a bit of distance on my morning runs to near 4 miles and guess what...

Went out yesterday with a bit of a cold and did 9 miles not only did I break my old distance of six, I smashed it!!!!!

And it was hard, but not that hard - give me a month or two and 13 miles here I come. Tee Hee.

Afternoon/Evening my fellow runners...So I am back from the Bristol Half and pleased to say that I ran the WHOLE thing!

Bit of a race low down. Organisation was great although in did take nearly half an hour to feed down to the start point but hey guess that is enivitable with so many people. The course in general was flat althugh some killer uphills in the last 3 miles! One thing that really got my goat was marshalls shouting out come on only x miles left and it being totally inacurate. This didnt bother me at the start but at mile 11 ish one marshall shouted out your at 11.25 not much more to go and it was so wrong. Hey I could go on about loads more but it wont change anything.
Plenty of water and energy stations

My low down, well warm up couple of miles was ok, adrenaline was pumping i guess. Mile 5 I felt great but by mile 8 my legs had really had enough and I started to struggle. I knew DD would be around mile 10 so that kept me going. The last 3 miles were pure hell! Ran a really really slow race but it was SOOO hot and I am used to it being chilly at 6am!

I don't know my official time yet but it was around 2.5 hours so a bit dissapointed but hey will give me a time to work on now!

What did amaze me was the number of people out there giving it a go, how many people that were totally under prepared (serious man chaffing legs, bleeding nipples and red raw blisters!!!) How many seriously large people there were that were walking.

Will try and post a link to a photo later :) I will warn you I look dam awful!

  • Well done Sally (insert clapping smiley here, they're still not working)! Things are always so different on race days, it can work either way, but that's a time to be proud of. Fab photo, you look great (just understandably hot and tired!) and is that your DD, how cute is she!! :-)

Well done. You must feel pleased with yourself.

Your comments about the Marshals reminds me of the London Marathon whereby marshals and others start shouting out 'Not far now' after about 18 miles or so. This is the difficult period and is absolutely no help at all when you think that you have another 10k plus to do!
