Now to try to get back to something closely resembling exercise, how about this for showing how good walking is:
Man eats 23,000 Big Macs ......but is not overweight.
He walks 10 miles per day and is fit as a fiddle. Just shows.

To be honest, I had to look through a list of past FA cup winners before it dawned on me, so I half cheated!
Not sure about "fit as a fiddle", he might have high cholesterol etc. Still, he's not overweight so his odds of diabetes, heart disease etc are greatly reduced.
I just went for a lunchtime stroll myself. Just 1.5 miles to stretch the legs though.Running Club targets 20105KM - 21:00 21:55 (59.19%)10KM - 44:00 --:-- (0%)Half-Marathon - 1:45:00 HIT! 1:43:08 (57.84%)Marathon - 3:45:00 --:-- (0%)0 -

Who's your team? Do you not find the SPL predictable?

Hehe.. not a problem (as long as you don't expect me to play it!)
I've been off reading on a running/ fitness site and forgetting I wasn't on MSE - I'm so used to reading everything from a money saving point of view that I was getting shocked at people recommending expensive bits of kit and their tips to 'cheer yourself up' by doing things like joining a gym and using the spa etc. I think I am officially a skinflintDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

I dont GET gyms becuase they are too expensive so I must be one too...although I did spend £40 at lunchtime on other non running non essential kit (Rich will know what I mean).
And oi you too stop blaming me for everything - ganging up is rude!0 -
afternoon all
god whats all this talk of football...lets get back to running please!!:)
think I am going to have to give up work, far too much goes on, on here whilst I am away !I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Hi RichOneday and Maz, thank you. I know there will be other races, and I think it's better for me not to try and do it when I'm not fully fit - my longest run has been only 14 miles... when I did London I was up to 20 at this point!! It's Loch Ness Maz, the other end of the country for me, so now I'm thinking about Hastings in December, a bit closer...! Very disappointed as I love Scotland (grew up there), but I guess it isn't going away.
I'm glad everyone else's running is going well. Busy thread this one!
FMN xxLBM 16/06/08 - Credit card debts June '08 [STRIKE]£49,145 [/STRIKE].... Feb '13 balance £38,478 ... We'll get there0 -

Eh? I'm intrigued what this bit of kit is now!
Sorry about the ganging upit's just so easy when you're not around to defend yourself!
As for gyms, I get offered 50% subsidised membership by my company (though the taxman still taxes the other half as income). £36.45 a month for Virgin Active's swankiest gym* and I'm STILL too tight to join, lol!

We get a decent gym for 34 quid or something through work (the electric climbing wall is the mutts nuts), but I gave it up and used the money for my bike through the cycle2work scheme instead - seemed better value and gets me outdoors - and running's much more convenient, you step out of the door and you're there - none of this driving to the gym nonsense...Honestly, I miss the climbing wall and the rower a little, but that's it0
