Selling your Stuff on Amazon Part 10 - Discussion Thread

  I am getting so fed up with Amazon selling, to the point where I think I am calling it a day.
I am fed up with books all around the house which never sell and when they do, only to make a few pounds.
To cap it all I have today received my first negative (2 out of 5) from a buyer who says my book took longer than others to arrive! It was bought on the Friday night and posted on Monday! She hasn't contacted me at all to say there was a problem and I have emailed her asking if she can consider removing it as any delays would have been out of my control.
I am beginning to think I much prefer ebay - at least any feedback I leave for these idiots is also taken into consideration. I will leave feedback for this woman, but it doesn't really have any clout.
A very p*****d off Donna
Hi Donna
Try and stay positive, there's buyers and there's buyers
I wouldn't bother leaving her any feedback, it means nothing, but I would be tempted to 'respond to feedback' on your own feedback - along the lines of "Very sorry your book was delayed, it was dispatched promptly" - at least that way any future buyers will see that you are a 'kind and reasonable/caring' seller and won't just see the negative comment.
As for having lots of books around the house that haven't sold - why not have a week of 'thinning out' - delist those where you won't make much of a profit even if they do sell and take them to a charity shop - it might help you feel better if you 'declutter'.
Really wish I could take my own advice - I would probably feel exactly like you (except I would NEVER prefer Ebay over Amazon - too much like hard work and hassle).

Posted Theme Park Inc on the 11th September (got proof of postage, have double checked address on delivery note) and received an email on the 21st saying game hasnt been received and she wants a full refund, no question of when it was sent, etc. So ive advised that according to Royal Mail policy an item isnt classed as lost until 15 working days after the expected delivery date, that she should contact me again when this time has passed by which time, if she hasnt received it I will issue a full refund and launch a missing item investigation with RM.
Im always paranoid when people say they havent received something and 'demand' a refund as I often get the sneaking suspicion that they have actually received it and are just trying it on - especially when its something like a computer game which may not be compatible with her computer or something. Will wait and see what happens . . .
I don't often have items go missing in the post (I sell mostly books) - but I have noticed that games sellers seem to - I don't know if this is due to the nature of the buyer or the product - maybe books are less 'desirable' to go 'missing' or maybe book-buyers are more reliable.

Hi FFM
Thanks for the advice - I have calmed down a bit now!!
I think I will do what you suggest and thin my books out. That way, I am not selling as much and it will be a nice surprise if one sells!

This is what makes me suspect dodgy dealings going on - ive been posting items from various swapping sites, ebay and more recently Amazon and out of 200 items or so posted, only 1 went missing and that got back to me due to incorrect address. I know things do go missing but the nature of the email just makes me think she was trying it on - havent heard back from her yet so will see if she responds again in a week or so.
All I can say is - get proof of postage on everything and follow royal mail policy when things go wrong - ie allow 15 working days for an item to be delivered.0 -
Like a freak tornado bowling through the country, the Selling Fairy has paid a visit after an absense of a month... and my two most expensive items have sold, netting me £57 (before postage is added, and fees removed)
Watch out for this book guys, it must be out of print or something because it's going up, up up despite an RRP of £12.99!

I've used payperdrop_uk but you got to be careful about re-deliveries if recipients are not in to take the parcel as I remember. The other one stopped trading I think0
