Selling your Stuff on Amazon Part 10 - Discussion Thread

Good Morning all!
Am I the only one to be finding GreenMet a waste of time now they've 'improved' it?
I was regularly selling 4 or 5 books a week, often many more,(just run-of-the-mill novels etc that would be pointless on Amazon). They were all 'as new', read once and cared for, or else in some cases brand new. Since they've allowed sellers to 'undercut' each other with price reductions GreenMet is getting more like Amazon with its pages of 1p books, although GreenMet isn't going as low as 1p yet thank goodness! I've got about 150 listed on there at the moment, all good stuff, but haven't had a single sale for 3 weeks now:eek:
Just wondered whether it was my list that wasn't appealing or if anyone else was suffering too.0 -
I've hardly sold anything on Greenmet since the beginning of August - I assume also that it is their new selling system. Like you a lot of my books are in v good condition so I am hoping things will pick up when the dross has been sold at low prices.AMAZON SELLERS CLUB member 0033 come and join us :j make some space and get hold of some cash, we're on the ebay and other auctions, car boot and jumble sales board0

Weirdly I have had my best month ever on Greenmet ( which isnt saying a lot!) - 5 so far this month and I don't have many on there. Like you and as I said in a previous post, I am a bit pessimistic for the future as I wont list unless I make at least £2 profit and people seem to be discounting as new and excellent books just to get a sale and make 50p ...
Crazy....0 -
I've the same experience as boston_uk in that I have sold more these past couple of weeks than I had before. I have very few books at lower than the stated price, so I'm not under cutting, and I've sold a couple where I had been allowed to add a pound or two on for extra postage. The books I sold though all had the description of the book clearly stated, I just cut and paste my Amazon details rather than limit myself to 'good' or 'very good'. I've got almost £34 pending..every time I go to draw my money out I sell another book so decide to wait until that clears before withdrawing..and so it goes on.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I really can't decide whether to go pro merchant on Amazon or not. I don't have many sales at the moment but if I was able to add items that aren't already listed then I could add more items.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0

ah - but would those items sell well?? Although the more listed the higher the sales figures (generally), in proportion very few of the books I have added to the database have sold as yet.0

Just noticed this on the seller board ...30 days to change their mind in future, gosh.
Effective 8th October 2007, Amazon is launching a standard returns policy for Marketplace orders. Instead of requiring returns to be postmarked within seven days of receipt, buyers will be required to postmark returns within 30 days of shipment.
Please note: there are exceptions for specific product lines, such as software and consumer electronics; for further details, please see full text of the returns policy here:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/203-8462181-1231952?ie=UTF8&nodeId=3149431.
This change provides the best possible shopping experience by standardizing the return process for all sellers. This policy will benefit sellers because it sets specific guidelines for buyers and clearly lays out the return process for all parties.
We thank you for your cooperation with this new policy and for selling on Amazon.co.uk.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Enough time to read the damn book and return it ....0

My thought exactly, boston_uk.
I despair sometimes of the 'improvements' that are being made to all the places where I sell. It always seems to scupper my progress :mad:0 -

This is what I wonder. Its some new DVDs which not many places have stock of at the moment. I know from experience that the price of DVDs can drop dramatically though if Play.com start to sell them. Or even if ebayers get them and undercut you.
How do you get uour listing to be the one that appears in the add to basket box? I can't see that mentioned.
Thanks
