  • Thanks for the replies MikeeMOO and disney_cjd. I do intend to pursue this and will post my results.
  • Hi, flew from Malaga last night due to leave at 21.00 actually left at 00.00. Told 2hr delay at at check in though heard Thomas Cook rep state 2.5hr, asked about vouchers and told not applicable for 2hrs!! of course not able to access this site at the time to argue. Anyway with 7 people in our party from 3yrs to 68yrs diabetic it was rather annoying to read we were entitled to some compensation. As usual once you check in and go through you have lost contact with the holiday reps !!! So convenient for them.

What should I do now having spent out on food etc.
  • Delayed for 3hrs last night from Malaga to Gatwick. Told 2hrs at check though heard Thomas Cook rep say 2.5hrs. No vouchers offered when I asked as told 2hrs not enough!!!
Checked this site this morning to find I had a case to ask for vouchers, what can I do now.

A party of 7 people from 3 to 68yrs, how difficult can it be to keep them happy.

Trouble was once left check in and gone through to shopping area contact lost with the reps, lucky for them.

Informed by Captain delay was due to aircraft arriving from Greece late into Gatwick before it could fly to Malaga.

    Any guidelines would be appreciated.

For delays of 2 hours or more, meal vouchers must be provided by the airline. If you have receipts, it would be worth writing to the airline, stating their obligations under EU Regulation 261/2004 and requesting a refund of your expenses.

    You might need receipts though.
  • I don't know if this is the same thing or if I am entitled to any compensation so please let me know if anyone out there can help at all.
I booked a trip to Barcelona (for May) on Jan 13th. I was to travel from Belfast, with Aer Lingus and to meet my friend there who I had co-ordinated flight times with as she was travelling from Newcastle. The flight times worked out well we were due to arrive, and depart within one hour of each other .
Aer Lingus emailed me to tell me they had rescheduled the flights on Jan 24th, but it was ok as they were 10 minutes later. They emailed me a further two times on 13th Feb and 26th Feb to reschedule the flights again,by the last reschedule my flights had moved forward by 6hours 30 minutes on the departure and 6hours 50 minutes on the return.

This would have meant that my friend and I , on a 4 night trip would have lost almost 2 days together as I was arriving so late and she leaving much earlier than me.

I complained to Aer Lingus on 3 or 4 occasions and while they were polite they offered me no compensation, or apology. Eventually they agreed to refund the cost of the flights, which took a further 2 phonecalls to New York to receive.

I was fortunate to be able to book with Jet 2 at comperable times to the first flights , but it cost me around £60 more than the originals.

Is there any way I can claim any compensation from AerLingus for the inconvenience or are they allowed to change their flights willy nilly?

    Under EU regs - none.

By complaining to Virgin about the incident - maybe a token flight voucher, maybe not.

As long as the times are finalised 2 weeks ahead of the flight date then yes they can change/cancel at will
  • Me and my family were delayed overnight on a flight home from Reus Airport (Spain) last week - although the airport supplied 1 drink & 1 sandwich each - they couldn't get hotel accomodation arranged for all of the passangers (including us). Therefore we had to sleep in the terminal marble floor resulting in 3hrs sleep. Do we have any rights for compensation ?
