Multiple cards from same company?

in Credit cards
Are you allowed to have more than one card from the same cc issuer?
Eg MBNA have the Play.com rewards card, could you also take out a MBNA Everyday Credit Card or Emirates Skywards card too or is this not allowed?
Or the Halifax Clarity card as well as the All in one card?
Thanks

I've had 2 MBNA cards at the same time. Others say you can have up to 5 simultaneously.
I understand Halifax only allow one 'mainstream' card per customer.
Of course there will always be exceptions!0 -
Will come down to their own rules and your credit score/worthiness. Might even depend if they're Visa / Mastercard (two of one could be a problem, whereas one of each might not).
I have two cards with Barclaycard at the moment. In the past I've had multiples with other providers, including MBNA.0 -
I also understand that Halifax allow you to only have 1 CC.
I have 2 barclaycards, 1 Visa and 1 Mastercard. When I applied for the visa they told me I would only be eligible for 1 of each.0 -

Unfortunately, however, Barclaycard don't currently offer any Mastercard products.
NatWest let you have two, I had the Classic and YourPoints cards simultaneously.
Nationwide only let you have one, as do Halifax (although some people have reportedly slipped through the net), MBNA let you have multiple (I have Platinum and AAdvantage), Capital One sometimes let you have more than one (I had Progress and Aspire World simultaneously).
Also, people have previously reported that Creation let you have an entire deck of their cards.0 -
Hi CandyApple I had an entire range oof Creation cards as GuessWho mentioned. In the beginning of my credit card career I was wary so just targetted Creation (cause I knew they were easy about it) and US cards like Amex.
Now I have multiple cards for 4 different companies and run business expenses through all of them to leverage the points. I see an increased value, and it forces me to go on holiday!0 -
At one point I had 9 with Creation.... closed some now though...I spent 25 years in the mobile industry, from 1994 to 2019. Worked for indies as well as the big networks, in their stores also in contact centres. I also hold a degree in telecoms engineering so I like to think I know what I’m talking about 😂0

Natwest confirmed only 2 for me when I had one - and no credit limit increase for first 6 months, period... Even if I was promoted etc they said no full stop
I managed to get a second with them and then 2 more with RBS. They strongly hinted that if I was to use RBS my Natwest internal data would be used (which makes sense but I didn't think about it). So I now have 4
Halifax limit to 1 as said above, but using Bank of Scotland got me another (pretty small limit) card.0 -
Depends on your credit rating I expect, I've got 3 Barclaycards (Platinum Visa, Classic Mastercard, and OnePulse), and 2 American Express (Charge and credit).0

I disagree. I have a Barclaycard that is a Mastercard.0 -

So do I, but they don't have any Mastercard products available to new customers at the moment.0
