Multiple cards from same company?

Natwest confirmed only 2 for me when I had one - and no credit limit increase for first 6 months, period... Even if I was promoted etc they said no full stop
I managed to get a second with them and then 2 more with RBS. They strongly hinted that if I was to use RBS my Natwest internal data would be used (which makes sense but I didn't think about it). So I now have 4
Halifax limit to 1 as said above, but using Bank of Scotland got me another (pretty small limit) card.
Funny that. I just applied for Natwest (already hold a RBS credit card), got a credit limit right away and signed the agreement etc.
Next step - Further checks required so we need 5 days.
So I called up Natwest right away (no relationship, I bank with RBS) and they said the system had flagged up another recent application a few days back (my RBS credit card which has been accepted and already showing up in my digital banking). So I asked the guy if I can't hold both RBS and Natwest, and he confirmed that yes, I can hold upto a total of four cards and that's when he realized that the previous application was for a RBS credit card.
Told him to put a note in the system so whoever takes a look at it knows what happened and he said I'll be getting a letter in the next few days.
Any ideas if I should be doing something different?
Cheers.0 -
I think I just got accepted rather than any kind of referral message. Natwest have their 'AVU' team anyway, who check applications, so I just left them to it. Just got them all through the post after a week or so.
My credit rating is pretty awful too, so I'm surprised they gave me 3 more - the 1st RBS one actually being a higher limit than Natwest!0 -
Ah ok.
Just called up Natwest and the reason it got referred was because there was a slight mismatch in the address.
The've sent me a letter to fill in my full correct address and send it back. Nothing else required.0 -
It's funny with store cards, I have a decent credit history, but a while back I applied for an Evans store card which is run by Santander.
Anyway, I was declined:eek: Anyway, 2 weeks ago I applied and got an instant approval..... The card can be used at Wallis,Topshop Bhs and a few more stores.
So funny with store cards and their apr isn't cheap, but I pay it off in one these days. Do you have to apply in person for the Selfridge's card? I understand Santander are not providing the backing for a lot of store cards, as it's changing to SAV finance.
Hope you get the store card:T
Hi
Yes the selfridges card has to be applied for in store and is also by creation finance. Great perks with extra discounts and VIP events etc... Apparently creation have taken over a few cards from Santander and previously rejected people have flown through applications with acceptance. According to creation that is, lol0 -
if the benefits are really worth having, give it a go.
otherwise, and if in doubt, i would just push as much spending on to your Asda card, and always clear in full, as you can.0 -
I think thats what i'm going to do for the moment, just use it and pay it for next several months so they know I am sensible with credit etc..
only then I will take a trip and try to get the selfridges one :-)0
