This really is luck of the draw and I do not necessarily believe that an Estate Agent shouting the odds works, as we have tried to speed up a couple and told absolutely not.

We have had one in Essex done 2 days after instruction and one in Dagenham that took 2 weeks to get booked and the date was a further 3 weeks away.

I do not expect things to get any better in the Summer Holidays (As Kings said) when typically most take their holidays. It is easing off now the Halifax Stamp Duty deal has been removed though for sure.

Incidentally, to call Colleys takes about 45 minutes at the moment, in case anyone was going to quickly chase on a break from work.

Estate Agents are aware of this and hopefully telling vendors in advance, so all we can all do is wait it would appear.

    Good luck all

We are also waiting on a formal offer from Haliax having had our AIP and full application sent on 26th July.

We were informed though that as the home report was on an approved list of valuators and is less than 3 months old, we would not be required to pay the valuation fee or have the valuation done. Can anyone confirm whether this is true? Would this speed up the process of receiving a formal offer?

    We applied via a broker.

    Thanks.

Then so long as the surveyor company and surveyor are acceptable to Halifax, then this is the case.

There have been some instances where they do not accept certain surveyors from within a company (not sure on the reason) but typically these are ok.

Your broker needs to key this in a specific format and Halifax need to accept at their end.

This process does require intervention from Colleys of an administrative nature, so this could be causing any delay you face.

    Good luck

I agree. I'm not normally the type of person to start complaining if things are not happening as quickly as i expected i normally do the opposite and be extra nice to win people over. However my survey was moved forward 5 weeks because they outsourced the work. Maybe not everybody can do this but if somebodies vendor is getting impatient maybe somebody might have some luck trying this.

I suspect your Estate Agent was taking credit for something that happened naturally.

Colleys will typically panel their work outside of their Service Level Agreements, but it tends to be area's that are suffering rather than companies specifically.

Always nice to get good news though...

That's excellent news Dave. Thanks very much! Will keep my post updated on the other thread regarding timelines when I hear back so people can get an idea if they have a similar case in Scotland. :)

My valuation is tomorrow with Halifax - my full application went in last week.

I am in the South East.

That's quick, are you having a valuation or the homebuyers survey?
Where in the South East are you?

Just an update to this, 16 days after paying the fee still no news on a date for the valuation. It is very frustrating! We have paid solicitors for the searches.
I am hoping it won't be much longer until we hear?!
